In the previous episode of Tough Love on VH1, Stasha left the Tough Love house with the announcement that she's in love with a man whom she met just one week before her arrival on the VH1 reality show.
Jody decided to continue her relationship with Shane, who offered an apology for grilling Jody on their prior date, insisting there was "something wrong" with her since she was still single. Jody decided to accept the apology — a fact that matchmaker Steve Ward found encouraging, calling Jody's willingness to forgive a sign of a strong connection between the couple.
Taylor also garners matchmaker Steve Ward's attention when she reveals her gold digger ways by ditching her date — a handsome professional MMA fighter — for the man whom she believes is the rich owner of the mansion. Only he was hired to play the role to put Taylor to the test. It's a test this Tough Love cast member failed, reinforcing Steve's theory about why she's continually unsuccessful in love.
What Happened on This Week's Episode of Tough Love?
On the sixth episode of VH1's reality TV series Tough Love, the cast gets a lesson from matchmaker Steve Ward on how and when to reveal secrets to a date or boyfriend without sending them running for the hills. The professional matchmaker instructs the Tough Love cast to reveal secrets fairly early in the relationship with a new man, while also putting a positive spin on a negative secret.
So what secrets does the Tough Love cast reveal?
Taylor admits that her brother is in prison, incarcerated for drug charges. She admits this on her first date with Valentino, a tall, dark youth counselor and son of an R&B singer who's perfectly equipped to handle Taylor's secret thanks to his experience as the son of a drug addicted mother.
Jaclyn goes on yet another date with Brock, during which she admits that she doesn't support herself financially; she has a trust fund and only works part time. Jaclyn spends hundreds of dollars on shoes, clothing and handbags without batting an eye — a fact that Steve addresses privately with Jaclyn. Steve explains that Jaclyn's view of money is skewed and her expectation of a three-karat diamond engagement ring is simply unrealistic.
Abiola meets a new man for her date, and she reveals that she's been married before, though only for a short period of time. It's an admission that's well-received by her date, who said that he too had been married for less than a year. Abiola scored points for making the secret revealing process a playful one.
Meanwhile, Arian went on her second date with Scott and she admits that she hasn't gotten past the two-week point with any of her relationships in the past year. Her date takes the news well, though he seems to be a bit antagonistic with Arian. Making it unclear whether he's truly interested in a relationship.
Jessa's Date With a Lie Detector Test
While the rest of the Tough Love cast is on their dates, Jessa's date is....Steve Ward the matchmaker. Steve explains that he's had a difficult time reading Jessa and he fears he cannot match her if she's not forthcoming and honest.
So Steve decides to give Jessa a lie detector test. Jessa is honest in her responses and she admits that she does trust Steve, but she doesn't "like" Steve. Overall, though, Jessa seems to arrive at an understanding with Steve.
Tough Love's Jody Meets Shane's Son
On her date with Shane, Jody meets Shane's son — a major step forward in their relationship.
Following the date with Shane, Jody realizes that she's definitely willing to be involved with a man with children; this is significant since at the beginning of Tough Love boot camp, Jody said she only wanted a childless man.
In fact, when telling the other Tough Love cast members that she met Shane's son, Jody makes a remark about how she wants to be a "good mom." It's a remark that was unimaginable just days earlier.
