Jody Cries on Her Date, Taylor Has a Breakthrough, Arian Breaksdown

Jody's date with Shane is a disaster, while Jacklyn's date with Brock is perfection. Taylor begins to lower her guard and Arian has a meltdown in Tough Love group therapy

In the previous episode, the cast of Tough Love took part in a photoshoot designed to reveal each woman's perception of attractive. Following the photoshoot, the cast gets an opportunity to view brutally honest feedback from a panel of men who give their honest opinions of each woman.

With the panel's feedback fresh in their minds, the Tough Love cast gets to attend a lingerie party. And yet again, several of the girls' flaws are brought to light yet again. Taylor bluntly tells her date she's not interested because he's not rich. Arian sabotages her chances of forging a meaningful connection with her date when she gets a bit too close, a bit too quickly. And then there's Abiola begins to mentally rip Terrance (the man she's been dating since the first episode) to shreds in a subconscious bid to keep him at arm's length.

Jessa goes on a "make it or break it" date with her beau. Jessa fears her date is a bit too conservative and slow-moving and this third and final date confirms her fears when her date keeps her at arm's length and refuses to even kiss her. As a result, Jessa and matchmaker Steve decide that she will move on and begin seeing other men.

Jacklyn and her date Brock go bowling on their date and it's clear that they have a very solid connection and their goals in life are extremely similar. Of all the girls, Jacklyn and Brock have perhaps made the strongest connection thus far.

Of all the one-on-one dates, Jody's is by far the most disastrous. Shane and Jody go out to dinner and during the date, Shane begins grilling Jody. According to Steve, Shane is befuddled by Jody's perfection as a match and he simply cannot understand why she's single. In short, Jody is too good to be true in Shane's eyes and his inappropriate and persistent line of questioning is his sad attempt to find the flaw that he's certain must exist.

Shane's grilling has a disastrous result: Jody begins crying and despite this, Shane refuses to back down. This drives a wedge between the couple and when Jody returns to the home, she has a complete meltdown. It's only after coaxing from matchmaker Steve Ward that Jody agrees to see Shane again in the future, on the condition that he apologizes for his inappropriate behavior.

Ironically, it appears that Shane's line of questioning exposes a major weakness in Jody: her unwillingness to say what's on her mind ( which likely would have been something to the effect of "back off" in the case of her date with Shane.)

The rest of the girls who have yet to make a real connection go on a group date.

Taylor has a genuine breakthrough with her date when she puts the topic of money aside. In fact, she didn't ask her date about his earnings — a notion that was unimaginable in past episodes from the girl who Steve Ward nicknamed "Miss Gold Digger."

Meanwhile, Arian raises quite a few eyebrows with her overly sexual behavior during the date. Between giving her date an adult "handshake" under the table and consistently discussing bedroom activities, Arian's behavior is an over-the-top defense mechanism intended to keep men at arm's length.

Arian's behavior on her date lands her in the "hot seat" during the Tough Love group therapy session, and this ultimately leads to a breakdown stemming from her deeply-seeded psychological issues. In short, Arian has a lack of respect for men and for herself.

Problems arise when Steve Ward tells Arian that her behavior is not only destroying her chances of making any real, meaningful connection with a man, but her overtly sexual behavior is placing her at high risk of assault or worse.

To this, Arian loses her cool and begins trashing the Tough Love set, tossing over camera tripods and screaming about her desire to leave the Tough Love cast.

This is where the fourth episode of VH1's reality television series Tough Love ends. Viewers are left with a message of "To be continued..."
