Top Chef Season Five: New York - Reunion SpecialTom, Padma, Gail, Toby, and the Chefs Reminisce
Hosea has won Top Chef: New York. However, one prize is still remaining. The judges and seventeen chefs reunite to discuss the season and find out who is fan favorite.
Top Chef: New York has come to an end and it’s time to find out what happened behind the scenes. From a birthday curse to a drunken judge’s table, there are many more behind the scenes secrets to look back on. Andy Cohen hosts this series of clips and conversation. After looking back on Hosea’s journey to become the newest Top Chef, some of the most hilarious moments of season five are profiled. Team Euro Reunites: Stefan and Fabio’s FriendshipThe second montage is dedicated to the “bro-mance” that began between the two European chefs, Stefan and Fabio. The two were inseparable during the competition. Stefan and Fabio both have restaurants in California and are still close friends. Fabio elaborated on how he broke his hand. He wears tennis shoes in the kitchen and slipped on some water on the floor. Stefan received the first T-shirt of the evening, to remind him of his new friend. The next montage featured the third-place finisher, Carla. Carla is a popular favorite for her positive attitude and kooky attitude. Though she did not win, she is enjoying the recognition that came with her strong showing. Her positive energy may have helped her avoid a new curse that plagued the Top Chef contestants. Top Chef Birthday Curse It was a bad omen for any chef to have a birthday. Daniel was the first one to face the curse and openly admitted that something bad always happened on or around his birthday. After he was eliminated, Eugene celebrated his birthday in the stew room and was promptly sent home. Radhika was eliminated shortly before her birthday. Though Leah was convinced that the curse was just a coincidence, she was the last person to be affected. Was Toby Young the Simon Cowell of Top Chef? Though the judge’s defend Toby, a montage shows differently. Editing has brought out the tough side of Toby, including his humorous comment that Radhika’s soup was “the weapons of mass destruction.” Tom points out that being a chef is naturally going to come with criticism, as reviewers will be just as harsh as the judges. Hosea and Leah’s Kiss Could Become MoreThe question everyone had been waiting to ask came next - how did Hosea and Leah’s significant others react to their flirtation and on-camera kiss? Both of them have since ended their relationship. While they are not together, they admit that they would pursue a relationship if they lived in the same city. Leah is not willing to relocate from New York, but Hosea says that he would be willing to move there if the right job opportunity came along. This TV romance may have a chance at becoming a relationship in the future. It can take hours for the judges to make a decision. In the meantime, the chefs are stuck in the stew room. From singing and dancing to a make-shift volleyball court, there is always something to do. However, the most interesting days involve alcohol. In one episode, Leah and Jamie had too much to drink before judge’s table. Padma had two important works for the chefs: National Television. Tom was surprised it didn’t happen sooner. Fabio is Named Top Chef Fan FavoriteThe votes for fan favorite have been tallied and Fabio is named the winner of the $10,000 prize. He will be putting the money towards his California restaurant, as well as trying to bring his Mama over from Italy. Fabio supports much of his family in Italy and wants to take care of his ailing mother. Season six of Top Chef is finishing the casting process and will begin filming sometime in April 2009. It will reportedly film in Atlanta, Georgia. Keep an eye on the Top Chef: New York page for updates and gossip.
