Leah Cohen and Hosea Rosenberg are still shaken from their kiss during last week’s episode of Top Chef: New York, but the cooking must go on. With only seven chefs still in the competition, they know that there is no room for error and small mistakes could get them eliminated.
Quickfire Challenge
The chefs enter the Top Chef kitchen and are greeted by host Padma Lakshmi and guest judge Scott Conant. The Quickfire Challenge is sponsored by Quaker Oats, and challenges each chef to cook a dish with a specific food group and oats. No one will receive immunity in this round. They receive 45 minutes and access to everything in the Top Chef pantry to complete their challenge. Jamie Lauren, Stefan Richter, and Leah Cohen are chosen as the top three of the challenge. Stefan is awarded the victory for his banana oatmeal mousse and petit fours.
Top Chef All Stars
The contestants are sent back to the stew room while Padma sets up for the Elimination Challenge. There, they discover chef coats decorated like jerseys. Upon returning to the Top Chef kitchen, the chefs find helmets and food from around the NFL. In bursts seven former Top Chef contestants, ready to do battle.

Elimination Challenge
For the Elimination Challenge, each chef will go head to head with a Top Chef All-Star and cook regional food associated with one NFL team’s city. They will have twenty minutes to cook their dish. Anyone who loses to the All-Star will be eligible for elimination. As the winner of the Quickfire Challenge, Stefan Richter gets to choose who he will battle against and which team’s cuisine he wants to cook. He selects Andrea Beaman, thinking that she will be an easy match because she was eliminated twice. The chefs are given two hours to experiment with their ingredients and come up with a plan.
Head judge Tom Colicchio, host Padma Lakshmi, judge Toby Young, and guest judge Scott Conant are waiting for the chefs at the Institute of Culinary Education, where the cooking will happen. In each match up, the person the judges select will be awarded seven points. Five students from the Institute of Culinary Education will also vote, and the chef they prefer will receive three points for their team. In the end, the Top Chef: New Yorkcontestants won the challenge, but three of the chefs fell below their competitors.
Judge’s Table
Carla Hall, Jamie Lauren, Leah Cohen, and Hosea Rosenberg were called to Judge’s Table first. All four of them beat their competition. Not only did Carla get her first win for her 20 minute gumbo, she was awarded two tickets to the Super Bowl. After being close to elimination last week, this victory was a huge success for her.
Stefan Richter, Fabio Viviani, and Jeff McInnis faced off against the judges next. The three chefs are frequently at the top of the pack, but all of them prepared disappointing dishes this week. Ultimately, Jeff was asked to pack his knives and go. His inability to bring restaint to his dishes was one of the main factors contributing to his elimination.
