One thing certain is this: herein are seventeen aspiring competitors all vying for the prestigious title of Top Chef. May the best chef prevail. Why Sin City?Once thought of as the land of the 99 cent shrimp cocktail, cheesy entertainment, gaudy decor of glitz and neon, Las Vegas has re-emerged as a leading culinary landmark. Many world renowned chefs have established a base in Las Vegas, including restaurateurs Hubert Keller, Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, Joel Robichon, and Emeril LaGasse, to name a few. Top Chef Judge and Chef/Owner of Craft Restaurants, Tom Colicchio, reports, "Visitors have responded to the rise in fine dining options: as of last year or the year before, food revenue in Las Vegas has surpassed gambling for overall revenue. So I think it’s safe to say that when you think Vegas and food, you no longer think “all-you-can-eat-buffet-for-$14.95.” It is clear that Sin City is a major foodie town. Hence, a perfect setting for Top Chef 6. High StakesThe initial Quickfire Challenge got off to an exciting start by thrusting into the mix a $15,000 chip prize, courtesy of the new M Resort Spa and Casino. A star-chef studded panel of judges promises to draw out the best efforts of the contestants. Wolfgang Puck, Daniel Boulud, Todd English, Hubert Keller, Michelle Bernstein, Tyler Florence, and Nigella Lawson are just some of the distinguished members of the judging panel. More challenge plot twists, incentives and fabulous prizes are forthcoming throughout this exciting season in Las Vegas.
