Sep 23, 2009 Allen Williams

The top 12 So You Think You Can Dance Canada dancers took the stage to perform everything from a dirty hip-hop number to an awkward salsa routine.

Last week's Wednesday night So You Think You Can Dance Canada results show kicked off with a sexy Blake McGrath routine. Anthony and Corynne stood out during last week's performances as did Cody and Melanie. The voting results placed three couples in danger and the judges eliminated couple, Danny and Natalie.

This week, the dancers returned to the stage without any new couples as the couple of Danny and Natalie were eliminated last week. Tonight, the battle will be to not only stay in the competition but also to reach the top 10. Mia Michaels and Rex Harrington were guest judges tonight.

The following dance performance recaps may contain spoilers. Each couple's performance is reviewed and may contain comments from the judges.

SYTYCD Top 12 Performance Recaps

This week marks the final week that the couples will dance together. Beginning next week, the couples will be split apart and will draw names each week for a new dance partner.

Everett & Tara-Jean: Everett & Tara Jean drew theater this week and were choreographed by Sean Cheesman. The routine played to Everett's strengths by featuring a little bit of tap dancing. The couple played to the audience and delivered a fun and energetic routine. Mia found the performance amazing and called them the "real deal." Rex thought Everett was a young Gene Kelly. Tre expects them to make the top 10.

Vincent & Amy: Vincent & Amy drew jive and were choreographed by Tony & Melanie. The dance moved quickly and the couple delivered the goods. The jive is one of Vincent's favourite dances and it showed. Tara Jean kept up with him although she looked out of place in a few sections of the routine. Mia thought it was fun and thought Amy looked real, while she informed Vincent that she wanted to bite him. Rex loved it and also wanted to bite Vincent and thought Amy stepped it up this week.

Cody & Melanie M. : Cody & Melanie drew jazz this week and were choreographed by Melissa Williams. The vampire dance routine features a virginal Cody and vampire Melanie. A slow and seductive number, Cody and Melanie danced it well although it didn't seem overly complex. Mia wanted to see more solid training from Cody who she founding lacking in jazz skill. Rex agreed with Mia and commented that he is a fan favorite and likely safe another week.

Emanuel & Kim: Emanuel & Kim drew hip-hop and were choreographed by Luther Brown. The routine featured a powerful Kim who got to grab Emanuel's junk during the dance. Mia talked up Luther's choreography and thought Kim slayed it. Mia thought Emanuel could have hit it harder. Rex found it totally sexy and sleazy. Tre told Emanuel he got into it and called Kim, "so damn strong." Jean Marc told Kim she killed it and thought Emanuel embodied his character.

Daniel & Jayme Rae: Daniel & Jayme Rae drew contemporary and were choreographed by Blake McGrath. The piece featured a slow and emotional wedding in which Jayme Rae nailed it while Daniel supported her, but did not match her level of skill or connection to the number. Daniel looked forced in his emotions, almost comical in movement. Mia found the piece special and Rex thought Jayme Rae exposed her soul. Rex wanted to see more from Daniel, depper levels. Tre found Jayme Rae's lines and appreciated Daniel's commitment. Jean Marc agreed Daniel didn't have all the tools but thought he delivered a solid performance.

Austin & Corynne: Austin & Corynne drew salsa this week and were choreographed by Tony & Melanie. The routine showcased Austin but Corynne looked slow and uncoordinated during it. Mia found it forced sexiness and thought Corynne's issue stems from her classical training. Rex thought Corynne had forced moments while Austin did his best. Tre thought Corynne committed to the routine. Jean Marc loved the couple and didn't have any criticism and thought they would be in the top 10.

SYTYCD Top 12 Audience Favourites

The audience responded to Emanuel & Kim's dirty, sleazy hip-hop with Kim earning most of the applause. The judges seem to agree that she looks like one of the leading women. Everett & Tara Jean also delivered an energetic theatrical routine in the first dance of the show.

Although Tre and Jean Marc defended Austin & Corynne's routine, the dance looked forced as Mia stated. It didn't seem to resonate well with the audience and may place them in danger this week. Daniel & Jayme Rae's routine also seemed like a let down when compared to the other dances of the night.
