Top 11 Recap Project Runway 6 Episode 6
Movie Genre Challenge with Reptile Dress and Ice Queen S06E06
Having survived the paper as fabric challenge last week, the remaining eleven Project Runway designers returned this week without Johnny. Winning designer Irina entered this week with immunity and could relax for this week's challenge.
The designers talked about how much more quiet the competition would be without Johnny's drama and his need to be frequently comforted. Heidi met the designers at the runway and told them it was time to explore movie making. Nicolas was excited since he had made costumes for films before.

Project Runway Top 11 Episode 6 Recap: The Challenge
The designers met Tim at a Hollywood sound stage with Collier Strong from L'Oreal makeup who would help in creating the look. Each designer would be creating a design based on a movie genre. Irina was first to select and she chose film-noir.
Each designer's name was drawn and able to select from the available movie genres. First up was Logan who chose action-adventure. Carol Hannah chose action-adventure, Ra'mon chose science fiction, Louise chose film-noir, Althea picked film-noir, Gordana took the period piece, Nicolas selected science fiction, Christopher chose period piece, while Epperson and Shirin both had western.
The designers received an information packet on each movie genre and had 30 minutes to sketch. The design challenge would last only until midnight. Carol Hannah wanted to make a sexy assasin while Logan took active-adventure in more of a military direction.
In the sewing room, bobbins started to go missing. It seemed as though someone was bent on sabotaging everyone else. The level of competition definitely accelerated this week.
Tim stopped by and loved the direction of Epperson's design. He warned Ra'mon that his reptile dress could be sublime or a big hot mess. Louise tends to go minimal and Tim suggested she push it this week.
On the day of the runway show, the designers were frantic, stressed, and quite cranky. Tim stopped by and encouraged the designers with, "Work like there's no tomorrow. Because for one you, there won't be!"
Project Runway Top 11 Episode 6 Recap: Runway Reaction
In place for Michael Kors and Nina Garcia were designer John Varvatos and Zoe Glassner from Marie Claire. Oscar-nominated costume designer, Arianne Phillips, joined the panel of judges.
Heidi called forward Logan, Carol Hannah, Shirin, Irina, and Althea then dismissed them as having high enough scores to move on to the next round of competition. She then brought out the models for the remaining top three and bottom three designs.
The judges questioned the specialness of Gordana's design and didn't find anything interesting in it. Nicolas told a lengthy story about his ice queen dress and John Varvators loved it. Arianne thought he did an excellent job in working with the makeup artist.
Zoe found Louise's design cheap and boring while John Varvatos enjoyed the strong design from Christopher. Ra'mon explained his reptile dress and the judges found the dress shoddy and a b-movie look. Heidi called it a, "hot green mess."
Epperson described his western story and Arianne found the dress fabulous, as did the other judges.
Project Runway Winner Announced & One Designer Eliminated: Auf Wiedersehen
The six designers returned to the stage and Heidi told Gordana and Epperson they could leave the runway. She then announced Nicolas the winner with his ice queen design. Christopher was also safe this week.
The bottom two designers were Ra'mon and Louise. Heidi told Ra'mon his dress missed the mark and a home-sewn mess. Heidi felt Louise's design lacked drama and didn't give any idea as to what her character was to be. She then informed Ra'mon that he was out and eliminated from further competition.
Ra'mon went to the work room to clean up his table. He explained, "I came here to be a strong designer with a point of view and also to be a competitor. So, I can leave with a smile on my face, and a genuine one at that."
Next week, the designers will face a colorful team challenge.
