The top 10 So You Think You Can Dance Canada dancers took the stage after drawing new partners this week. The new couples danced paso doble, samba, hip-hop, and more.
Last week's Wednesday night So You Think You Can Dance Canada results show kicked off with an energetic hip-hop routine choreographed by Luther Brown. Emanuel and Kim stood out during last week's performances as did Everett and Tara Jean. The voting results placed three couples in danger and the judges eliminated Corynne and Daniel. This week featured the top 10 dancing with new partnerships as the dancers each had to pick a new dance partner. Fans will now begin voting for individual dancers beginning with the Tuesday night vote and will continue to do so until the end of the season. The following dance performance recaps contain spoilers. Each couple's performance is reviewed and may contain comments from the judges. SYTYCD Top 10 Performance Recap Each couple danced together, then each dancer performed a solo number as well. Cody & Amy: Cody drew Amy and the couple had contemporary with Stacey Tookey. The story of the dance focused on a high school couple, which isn't a big stretch for baby face Cody. While entertaining, Cody's skill just didn't seem as strong as other contemporary dancers on the show. Amy gave a solid performance but overall the dance wasn't that exciting. Luther felt Amy's performance was a little flat and gave Cody props for doing well in a routine that wasn't his style. Blake agreed with Luther's assessment and Tre commented on Cody's growth.
Vincent & Melanie: Vincent drew Melanie and the couple had paso doble choreographed by newcomers Natalli and Francis. The ballroom dance was fierce and filled with emotion from both dancers. Melanie seemed like a different dancer now that she no longer dances with Cody. Likewise, Vincent blossomed without Amy. Blake thought Vincent commanded the stage while Tre thought Melanie was captivating and intense. Jean Marc thought it was great.
Austin & Jayme Rae: Austin drew Jayme Rae and had a hip-hop routine choreographed by Sho-Tyme. The routine placed Austin out of his comfort zone and it showed. Although the piece had energy, Austin didn't hit the moves as hard as he should have. Luther called Jayme Rae his favourite dancer because she's a beast in every style she dances. Luther thought Austin pulled through it while Blake wanted Austin to hit it harder.
Everett & Kim: Everett drew Kim and had jazz choreographed by Sean Cheesman. The pair danced an entertaining mad scientist routine which showcased both dancers skill and performance abilities. Luther raved about Kim and found the dance quirky and fun. Blake loved how the dancers played the characters and cleanly hit the dance elements. Tre called it her favourite performance of the entire season.
Emanuel & Tara Jean: Emanuel drew Tara Jean and had samba with Tony & Melanie. Emanuel continues to dance with a broken finger but it didn't seem to slow him down. Although the dance is neither one's style, the couple offered up an entertaining number. Parts of it seemed unpolished and there didn't appear to be much handwork, likely due to Emanuel's injured hand. Luther called Tara Jean the hardest working dancer and thought Emanuel smashed it. Blake believed the connection but found slight flaws in Emanuel's technique.
SYTYCD Top 10 Audience Favourites This week fans will vote for individual dancers, so it will give the first insight into which dancers Canada prefers. Crowd favourites Everett, Austin and Cody will likely be safe but a few dancers haven't shown as much personality and may be in danger. Although versatile dancers, Amy, Vincent, and Melanie seem lost in the mix when compared to the other performers. How will Canada vote?
