The Corlisses Crowned Newlywed Winner

Here Come the Newlyweds, Who is Going Home with the Money?

The final two couples vied for the grand prize by matching prices, matching lasting impressions and getting advice from couples who have been married 30 years or more

The July 13, 2009 episode of Here Come the Newlyweds, Who is Going Home with the Money?, a winner was chosen and walked away with $480,000.

McMorrises Match

The first challenge was a matching game. The couples were shown an item and asked, how much is too much to pay for…? The difference in each of their answers was totaled, and the couple with the least difference at the end of the game would win an opportunity card, which would allow them to cancel out the final vote of an eliminated player.

The items ranged from a bottle of wine to concert tickets, and the differences ranged from $20 to $4,500. The McMorrises matched answers twice, and the Corlisses matched answers once.

The final item was a birthday gift. The McMorrises were already ahead nearly $200, but they really blew the Corlisses out of the water when Marlo said $5000 was too much and Mark said $500 was too much so the McMorrises walked away with the first opportunity card.

Corlisses Know Their Couples

The second challenge was also a matching game, but this time the couples were asked to match their lasting impression of the eliminated couples. The eliminated couples were brought back to watch the game, which created tension and laughter.

The McMorrises and the Corlisses had a much easier time matching this time around. Examples of the questions they were asked are, who will you miss the most, who will be the best parents and who had the most sex while in the house.

The Corlisses won the game with two more matches and received their first opportunity card.

McMorrises and Corlisses Learn from Lifelong Partners

The last challenge took place at a retirement home in front of a large audience of couples who have been married 30 years or more. The elderly couples were asked to ask the competing couples questions about themselves and their marriage then decide who they believe deserves the final opportunity card.

Some questions were how do you deal with arguments, how do you deal with what bothers you most about your spouse and who is more patient.

Mark had the best answers. He said the house has taught him how to resolve arguments without blowing up, and later he said that he has learned to listen more and Marlo has learned to talk less.

Even with Mark’s heartfelt answers the McMorrises were named the winners, earning the third and final opportunity card.

A Winner is Chosen

Each couple was given one last chance to tell the couples why they should win before the votes were taken. The McMorrises said they had worked very hard in the house, and Kenny reminded the couples that being in the house was all about remembering how much you love your spouse. The Corlisses said being in the house taught them how to deal with problems they may be having. They mentioned that before coming to the house they were on the verge of separation but now can’t imagine not making it.

The eliminated couples cast individual votes, and some of the couples disagreed about who should win. The McMorrises used both of their opportunity cards on the Newberys, which was good because both of the Newberys voted for the Corlisses. The Corlisses used their opportunity card on Matt Cox, which was good because he voted for the McMorrises.

The votes were counted, and the Corlisses were awarded the Corlisses. Along with the grand prize of $480,000, the Corlisses and the other couples were awarded trips to Canada.

this was my 1st time watching the show...i guess i missed the 1st season...i don't think i will watch it again...i did not like how the winner was picked...the McMorrises worked hard at every challenge to have the money taken away from them by previously voted off cast members...they were just disgruntled losers...

Dear guests:

I didn't watch the whole season, just the premiere and finale, but I'd have to agree with both of you that the McMorrises seemed like the obvious winner. I do have to admit though, I was impressed with Mark's speech and his answers at the retirement home.

I watch the whole episode and recorded the last one, and for some reason it only recorded the first two challenges. The McMorris should have won, they were consistant, they loved each other, and was fun to watch. The Hinkins (the so called Virgin Couple) probably had everyone going against them because they were booted off by the McMorris. You can tell how bitter she (Hinkins-girl) was because she was talking about how greed can change someone. It's a game and they had 3 chances to take home some money, now who's greedy!

I watched every episode of this show and I am extremely disappointed in the out come. The McMorrise's should have taken home the final prize because hands down they were the best couple at the end. It's unfortunate how this happen and the other couples were just bitter and took it out on the strongest couple there. For the record I WILL NOT WATCH ANOTHER SEASON OF THIS SHOW.....EVER!

I was truly upset with the outcome of this years show. I watched this show last season too when the Mutra's won the prize and THEY TOO WERE THE STRONGEST COUPLE AND DESERVED TO WIN. I think it was completely unfair to allow a bunch of catty women who were mad that they were kicked off to decide who went home with the prize money. It is almost a waste of time of an entire season to watch for weeks and for a particular couple to be consistent throughout the season to just have the prize money ripped from underneath of them. The one show it was a chance to place an additional $35,000 in the pot, they all chose Kenny McMorris to shoot the basketball and again he was strong and got the basket and ultimately got the prize money added to the pot. Weeks of working together, growing together and to have jealous couples that were weak and not knowing choose your fate. A big Unjustice!!! KENNY and MAKAYLA God Bless You - Your Time Will Come - HANDS DOWN YOU ARE Good People
