Jake gets the first individual date; Jillian dines with one man in a bank vault; Juan is voted the most hated man in the house
On the May 25, 2009 episode of The Bachelorette, Week 2 (Season 5), the first group and individual dates happened. First Group DateMichael, Brian, Brad, Sasha, Tanner P., Wes, Ed, Mathue were invited to join Jillian at her pool. Jillian stole Michael away first for some private time. She said he was very easy to talk to. Jillian took the rose and walked away. The men were convinced Jillian had gone to give it to Michael, but they were confused when he came downstairs with nothing. The men learned Jillian left. They were put in teams of two and given the first clue to find her. Tanner P. and Michael decided to go right because everyone had gone left. They were very excited when they learned they were very close. The rest of the men hadn’t even looked at their map. Brad and Wes had the most trouble because their personalities didn’t mesh. Before finding Jillian the men were sent to a restaurant to put on tuxedos and to a jewelry store where Jillian had laid out four necklaces to choose from. Brad and Wes found Jillian first. Jillian chose Wes to stay with her for dinner in an old bank vault. The men were able to watch their date, and they believe Wes is horrible for Jillian. Jillian said Wes is the type of guy she looks for but feels she needs to protect herself from him. Jillian gave him a rose, and the two spent the night at her place. Individual DateJake was chosen, and Jillian first took him to a country western wear store to prepare. Jillian then took Jake to a private Martina McBride concert at the House of Blues. During dinner Jillian was wowed by Jake’s ability to fly her any where at any time. He asked her why she was here, and he seemed OK with her answer. Mid-sentence he kissed Jillian, and she was shocked. She said Jake seems like someone she could be happy with. Jake accepted the rose. Second Group DateJillian took Jesse, Mark, David, Mike, Simon, Kiptyn and Juan to play basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters. The Globetrotters picked David as the best match for Jillian. The group went to chat on the beach, and Jillian joked about choosing someone if they put on a Speedo and went in the water. Mike did it, and he received the rose for his spontaneity. Jillian took Juan to chat at dinner. David said he doesn’t respect the way Juan steals Jillian, but Jesse said he didn’t see it. Jillian said she likes that Juan is always a gentleman. Kiptyn and Jillian talked about his past relationships and what he is looking for. Jillian was worried when he said he has never had his heart broken. EliminationJulien, Reid, Robby and Tanner F. were not chosen for dates this week. Julien said he wasn’t worried because he figured she wouldn’t boot someone she didn’t know. Before elimination Jillian learned that Jesse chose her over working in Italy. Robby and Jillian were talking, and Wes stole her away, which upset a lot of people. Reid told Jillian he isn’t the aggressive type, but he really wants to stay. Brian wanted to stand out, so he got naked and jumped in the pool. The men had to pick the person they think should go home. Juan received the most votes, and Jillian was put on the spot to keep him or side with the men. Jillian chose to keep him. Brian, Mathue, Julien and Simon were eliminated.
