The Amazing Race 15 Episode 9 Recap
Meghan and Cheyne Claim First Place Again; Gary and Matt Eliminated
Flight Time and Big Easy, the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop in the last leg, opened their clue ahead of all other teams to start this leg of The Amazing Race. The clue instructed teams to travel by ferry to Tallinn Estonia, across the Baltic Sea.
The Brotherhood of the Blackheads Roadblock
Once in Estonia, teams had to travel to the building of Mustpeade and open a door using a set of keys they received at the start of the leg. Once they discovered the correct key and opened the door, teams went inside to find the next clue, a Roadblock. In this Roadblock, one team member had to temporarily join the Brotherhood of the Blackheads, a secret society of merchants. The team member had to retrieve a candelabra with a number attached, then find the room that corresponded to that number. Once inside the room, team members would receive a blank parchment containing a secret message. Holding the parchment over the candelabra revealed the message, the next destination on The Amazing Race.
Speed Bump for Gary and Matt
Upon arriving at Mustpeade, Gary and Matt were faced with the Speed Bump they received as a result of the last leg's non-elimination. In this Speed Bump, Gary and Matt had to find a nearby saunabuss, strip down to their underwear, and take part in a five-minute sauna with locals. Once they completed this task, they were able to return to Mustpeade and complete the Roadblock.
Pikk Hermann Tower Garden
At the Roadblock, teams found the rooms they were seeking and started revealing the message on the parchment. The message read Pikk Hermann Tower Garden, their next destination. At Pikk Hermann Tower Gardens, most teams found the clue box in the garden easily, but Matt and Gary lost more valuable time while trying to enter the tower. The teams were directed to the muddy bogs outside of Estonia.
Sling or Serve Detour
Meghan and Cheyne, and Brian and Ericka tried to grab the same taxi, and Brian gave it to the dating couple, conceding they were there first. Sam and Dan, and Flight Time and Big Easy also argued over a taxi, finally sharing a taxi van. At the bogs, teams were faced with a Detour, a choice between Sling or Serve.
In Sling, teams had to don a pair of bog shoes, traipse through the mud, and fire vegetables at a target using slingshots. Once they hit the target, a table of cabbages below it would collapse, revealing their next clue. In Serve, teams had to play a game of bog volleyball against Estonian players. They had to score five points before receiving their next clue. Only two teams could play volleyball at one time.
Meghan and Cheyne chose volleyball and scored their five points before any other team had arrived at the Detour. The teams of Brian and Ericka, Sam and Dan, and Flight Time and Big Easy all arrived at the Detour at the same time. All three teams wanted to try volleyball, but Brian and Ericka arrived at the courts last, and decided to try Sling instead of waiting for one of the other teams to finish. When they arrived at the Detour, Matt and Gary also chose do Sling.
Keava Raba Overlook Tower Pit Stop
Meghan and Cheyne arrived at the Pit Stop in first place once again. Sam and Dan, and Flight Time and Big Easy ran a foot race to see who would arrive in second place, becoming physical in the effort. Sam and Dan arrived second, narrowly beat the Globetrotters. Brian and Ericka arrived in fourth place. Gary and Matt were never able to catch the other teams, and arrived at the Pit Stop in last place. They were eliminated from The Amazing Race.
