The Amazing Race 15 Episode 6 RecapThe Globetrotters Have a Bad Day: Mika and Canaan Are Eliminated
The teams race around Dubai, hoping to remain in The Amazing Race.
Since Meghan and Cheyne took advantage of the Fast Forward in the previous leg of The Amazing Race, they were the first team to leave the Pit Stop in Dubai. The first clue instructed teams to select a locked briefcase and travel by taxi to the marina at the Dubai Creek Yacht and Golf Club. Once at the marina, the teams had to search the boardwalk for their next clue. Roadblock at Dubai Creek Yacht and Golf ClubAs teams opened their clue at the Dubai Creek Yacht and Golf Club, they discovered a Roadblock. In this Roadblock, one team member had to row an inflatable row boat to a yacht anchored off shore. Upon reaching the yacht, the team member had to board and meet a Sheik, who would present them with a watch according to Arab custom. After receiving the watch, they were to row back to shore, and their waiting teammate. Once on shore, the person who rowed was to attempt to open the briefcase, using the watch as a clue to the combination. One by one, teams received their watch and realized that the combination to the locked briefcase was the time showing on the watch, 8:35. However, Big Easy thought the placement of the hands was the combination, and used the numbers 8 and 7. He figured the third number was the date. The other teams opened their briefcases and retrieved the clue inside, while Big Easy was getting frustrated trying to open his case. After numerous attempts, and being the only team left at the Roadblock, he finally tried the time instead of the position of the hands, and the case opened. Gold Or Glass DetourThe clue inside the briefcase directed teams to Abra Station, a water taxi depot in the old souk section of Dubai. The clue the teams found there gave them the choice of Detour tasks Glass or Gold. In Glass, teams had to travel to a spice market and choose a crate full of disassembled hookahs used for smoking. Using all the parts in the crate, teams had to successfully assemble 12 hookahs, using three hookahs as examples. In Gold, teams had to find a jewelry store and measure out exactly $500,000 worth of gold using a precision scale. A television monitor in the jewelry store displayed the current exchange rate of an ounce of gold. However, the rate was constantly changing, so teams would have to work fast to figure out the amount of gold needed to make $500,000. At the spice market, Meghan and Cheyne pulled out all the pieces to assemble the hookahs and thought they were on their way to success, but they left out a few parts initially. Brian and Ericka attempted the Gold detour first, but quickly decided there was too much math involved, and tried their hand at the hookahs. Big Easy and Flight Time, Tiffany and Maria, and Sam and Dan all successfully completed Gold; while Brian and Ericka, Matt and Gary, Meghan and Cheyne, and Mika and Canaan completed Glass. Leap of Faith WaterslideThe next clue sent teams to find the Leap of Faith located at the Aquaventure Water Park at Atlantis Resort at Palm Dubai. Both team members had to slide down the six-story waterslide that went through a shark tank, in order to receive their next clue. Various teams faced their fear of heights, water, and sharks to complete the task. However, Mika refused to take the plunge, allowing the Globetrotters to go down the slide in front of them. Teams who successfully conquered the slide were given a clue directing them to Dolphin Bay Beach on the grounds of the Resort. Dolphin Bay Beach was the Pit Stop for this leg of The Amazing Race. Mika was never able to overcome her fear of heights and water, and did not complete the task. Meghan and Cheyne arrived at the Pit Stop in first place, and Mika and Canaan were eliminated from The Amazing Race.
