The Amazing Race 14 Episode 7 RecapFull Episode Summary of The Amazing Race Season Fourteen
Six teams continue racing through Thailand in the seventh leg of the race. Faced with sweltering heat, Margie almost passes out and one teams incurs two time penalties.
In last week's episode of The Amazing Race, teams traveled to Jaipur, India where issues with taxi drivers caused some teams to excel and others to fall behind. Tammy & Victor easily moved ahead to a first place victory, while flight attendants Christie & Jodie overcame their last place finish and speed-bump only to come up minutes short at the mat, and were subsequently eliminated from the race. Six teams continue racing for the finish line and the one-million dollar prize. Amazing Race Teams Travel from Jaipur, India to Phuket, ThailandDeparting Jaipur, teams have the option of booking tickets at either a travel agency or airport counters before flying over 2000 miles to the city of Phuket, Thailand. All teams are booked on the same flight, connecting through Delhi and Bangkok before arriving in Phuket at 8:50am. Teams Locate Gorilla Statue and Perform with Elephants in Phuket ZooOnce in Phuket, teams must direct a taxi driver to the location featured in a photograph of a gorilla statue. Mark & Michael depart first, however their taxi driver does not know where the statue is located. Cara & Jaime, Margie & Luke, Kisha & Jen and Tammy & Victor all end up pulling off the road near the stuntmen and ask locals for directions. Mike & Mel, last to find a taxi at the airport, have a driver who tells them the statue is at Patong Beach. En route, they see the other teams drive in the opposite direction, but continue to the beach, only to be redirected by a local man back to the Phuket Zoo. After locating the gorilla statue, teams have their photos taken with a tiger before performing in a Thai performance while elephants step over them. Mark & Michael are first in line for the tiger, followed by the remaining four front-running teams. Mel & Mike complete the tasks after all other teams have departed. Racers Search Through Drawers in Thailand's Oldest Herb ShopTeams travel next to Old Phuket where they ask the herbalist to open one of 99 drawers in search of their next clue. Cara & Jaime arrive first, where the lack of communication and slow pace of the herbalist quickly tires Jaime's patience. Mark & Michael arrive second and the two teams rotate in search of a clue. Kisha & Jen arrive in third. As Margie & Luke enter the herb shop, Mark & Michael find a clue and depart to the next location. After four other teams enter and leave, Cara & Jaime, the first team to arrive, are still luft hunting for a clue. After having the shop keeper open drawers one by one, they finally depart. Mike & Mel, arrive last and methodically search through the clue boxes. Amazing Race Contestants Face Physically Challenge Detours in Phuket, ThailandAfter leaving the herb shop, teams encounter a detour, where they must choose between two physically laborious tasks - "100 barrels" or "two miles." In "100 barrels" teams travel to Pae Yod docks where they must prepare a fishing boat for a ten day trip at sea by filling 47 barrels with water and stacking another 53 barrels on the fishing boat roof. In "two miles" teams must pull their teammate in rickshaw two miles to next cluebox. Mark & Michael immediately choose to pull the rickshaw, knowing their physical strength will give them a steady lead. Once at the detour, Mark & Michael pump up the flat tire of their rickshaw and then hide the remaining air-pumps in a box to confuse and mislead the other teams. Along the way, they pay their taxi driver to slowly lead them to the ending location. Margie & Luke, Cara & Jaime and Kisha & Jen initially chose to do "100 barrels" but after their taxi driver takes them the to wrong location, mother/son team Margie & Luke and redheads Cara & Jaime switch tasks. Tammy & Victor also opt for the rickshaws. Neither of the other teams realize that the rickshaw has a flat tire and complete the task without using the air-pumps. Kisha & Jen continue on to find Pae Yod docks where they are later joined by Mel & Mike. After stacking all 53 barrels on the roof, Kisha realizes that the hose was running the whole time and the two tasks could have been done simultaneously, a revelation that allows Mel & Mike to make up lost time. Pit-stop for Seventh Leg of the Amazing Race is at Wat Thep Nimit TempleAfter completing the detour teams head to the pitstop located at Wat Them Nimit Temple. Stuntmen Mark & Michael are first to the pit-stop, only to be told they have incurred two 30-minute penalities: one for tampering with race equipment by placing the air-pumps in the box and a second for having the taxi lead them through the rickshaw route. They sit and wait an hour before being allowed to finish. Tammy & Victor arrive second, but because of the time penalty encountered by Mark & Michael, they are the first team to check in. Cara & Jaime are seconds behind for a second place finish. Mark & Michael, who would have otherwise had an hour lead, check in minutes behind the redheads in third place. Margie & Luke finish fourth, and as Luke celebrates their finish, Margie states that she needs water and almost passes out at the mat. Kisha & Jen, departing from the detour in fifth place, are taken to the wrong temple by their taxi driver. While they ask for directions, Mike & Mel finish the detour and also make their way to Wat Thep Nimit Temple. Eventually, Kisha & Jen locate the correct pit-stop location and finish in fifth, leaving Mike & Mel unable to make up for the time lost driving to Patong Beach earlier in the leg. The father/son duo are the fifth team to be eliminated. Next in The Amazing Race 14 Episode 8, teams sing karaoke in Bangkok and the stuntmen make a critical error and lose their bags.
