Tammy and Victor Win Amazing Race 14Amazing Race, This is How You Lose a Million DollarsThe teams leave for Maui, their final stop of the race; Lack of strength puts Tammy and Victor behind; Luke becomes frustrated over the memory challenge
On the May 10, 2009 episode of Amazing Race, This is How You Lose a Million Dollars, the teams left China for their final stop on the race, Maui. Three teams were racing for the million dollars, tensions were high and no one held back. Pick up the Pig AlreadyThe teams’ next challenge was at Shoreline 118. They had to prep, season, carry and bury a whole pig in order to receive their next clue. Tammy and Victor were the first to arrive, followed by Jaime and Cara then Margie and Luke. Margie and Luke caught up a lot because Jaime and Cara had a lot of trouble carrying their pig. It wasn’t long before they also passed Tammy and Victor for the same reason. Cara and Tammy were yelled at a lot by their partners because they just couldn’t handle the weight. Margie and Luke finished first, but Tammy and Victor and Jaime and Cara got stuck on the process of burying the pig. The Bouncing ClueThe next stop was McGregor Point. The teams traveled there on jet skis, and they were supposed to find a buoy spot. Margie and Luke had found the buoys before the other teams arrived at the point. Margie and Luke found their clue and passed the other teams on their way back to the shore. Jaime and Cara were thrilled to see they weren’t that far behind. Jaime and Cara passed Tammy and Victor in the water and were the first of the two in a cab. Unfortunately, the pair’s driver couldn’t find the fence. Jaime lashed out at the driver and ended up calling the police for directions. The relieved moment of knowing where they were going quickly passed though when the driver announced he needed to stop for gas. Surf Through Your MemoryThe clue on the buoy told the teams to find a surfboard fence down the highway. The clue was a roadblock. One member of each team had to search through a giant pile of surfboards to find pictures of things relating to previous places they had been. The person would then have to line the surfboards up in order of the task. Luke chose to do this task. Margie was very confident in him and his memory. She said he was looking forward to this challenge and has been practicing. Tammy and Victor arrived at the challenge, and Luke was very worried about how quickly he knew Victor would move. Luke gave Victor a chance to catch up when he couldn’t figure out which surfboards should go in spots 10 and 11. Luke was breaking down due to frustration when Jaime and Cara arrived. Jaime decided to do the task, and she immediately complained she couldn’t place the symbols on the surfboards to anything they had previously done. Soon Jaime only had two left, Luke had one left and Victor was finished. Jaime and Luke decided to help each other solve their missing pieces, but Jaime and Cara still left first. In the car Luke broke down. The Final StopThe teams were told to drive to the King Kamehameha Golf Course, the final stop in the race. Tammy and Victor were the first to arrive at the golf course, winning the million dollar prize. The eliminated teams and host Phil Keoghan were there to greet them. Tammy told the group the race taught the team that just because her opinions may be different from her brother’s opinions doesn’t mean they are wrong. Jaime and Cara finished second. Margie and Luke finished third.
