Survivor 19 Episode 3 Recap from October 1st Telecast

Two episodes into the 19th season of Survivor three contestants have already gone home. Heading into the 3rd week of the show, some intriguing storylines have formed.

Galu came into the newest episode having won two straight Survivor immunity challenges, keeping everyone but Shambo happy. On the opposite site Foa Foa has lost both of the challenges and is quite down. Ben has upset his Foa Foa tribe, while Russell (the oil company owner) has become the first person to ever find the hidden immunity without any clues. So, while Galu was riding high, it seemed like Foa Foa might be very close to self imploding. 17 are left; who will be voted out in Survivor Samoa Episode 3.

The episode began with the Foa Foa tribe talking amongst themselves about not liking Ben very much due to his explosive attitude, and the feeling that he should have been the one to go home at the last tribal council. Meanwhile Russell H. started trying to work people behind the scenes again, unsure of why people weren’t trying harder to play the game of politics yet. He even went as far as to call everyone else “zombies” to the one-on-one camera. As with past episodes, a lot of camera time was spent showing Foa Foa camp, this time as they tried to start a fire as frustrations grew.

Finally heading back over to Galu, it showed four members enjoying a morning of yoga on the beach. They seemed to all be having a great time relaxing, and most of them weren’t even getting into game mode at all. The yoga didn’t really make Shambo very happy though, and she was quietly stewing to herself while trying to do most of the work around camp. Unfortunately this glimpse of those five people was it for a great while, and the producers sent Survivor viewers back to Foa Foa for some scheming between Ben and Russell H.

The latest immunity challenge was a challenge not just for immunity, but for comfort, as the winners would be getting pillows and other comfort amenities. In a six on six challenge, each tribe took turns sending two people swimming out to retrieve six-sided (and colored) crates from the water. In their way would be one defender from each tribe to try and keep them from getting the boxes. Once the crates were retrieved and brought back to the beach, they then had to stack them in a fashion that would make sure that no two crates on the stack would have the same color showing.

Galu was able to take a big lead early in the immunity challenge, trying to get all four of their crates back so they could be organized and stacked. Foa Foa caught up and had their cubes stacked first, but unfortunately they doubled up one of the colors. Galu got their cubes stacked very soon after that, but they did it correctly, and Galu won immunity once again. The winning leader (Russell S.) had to again choose someone to watch the other tribe for the day and sit through their tribal council. This time Russell sent over Shambo to spy.

Shambo Meets Foa Foa

Rather than observing Foa Foa like she was supposed to do, she took the time to go complain about her tribe to them. She seemed to bond with a couple of the Foa Foa members right away, and she also had several hidden immunity clues to investigate. The problem for her though, was that this tribes Russell already found the immunity idol several days earlier. He did get a kick out of watching her try in vain to find the hidden idol though.

Galu Tribe Enjoys Their Comfort

With the comfort items that the tribe won, the four other girls went back and used them to relax some more without doing any work around the camp. The men (other than Russell S.) were slowly getting frustrated with the women refusing to do work and treating the beach like “Club Med.”

Foa Foa had to go to tribal council for the third straight time, and with this visit were prepared to go down a total of four members through three episodes. After a lot of tribal bickering (once again), Foa Foa voted to send Ben home.

The next episode of Survivor Samoa will air at 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 8th.
