Mystery Picks Simeon - Not Matt - to be the Next Pickup Artist

In VH1's reality show The Pickup Artist 2, a group of ungainly and decidedly unattractive men are transformed with makeovers and then trained to approach and interact with women by the show's hosts Mystery, Matador and Tara. The goal? The men strive for the title of "The Pickup Artist."
On November 30, 2008, The Pickup Artist 2 season finale aired and it was revealed that one-time ugly duckling Simeon won the coveted red medallion, symbolizing that he is the next "Pickup Artist."
Simeon's Transformation into a Pickup Artist
Simeon arrived on The Pickup Artist 2 as a skinny, bearded, hyper and sometimes-over-the-top 20-something. By the end of the show, Simeon is a slightly less over-the-top 20-something with the looks of a wannabe rock star - complete with black nail polish - who has learned to approach and pickup women.
Simeon is probably best known for his over-used and rather lame opener: "What movie is this from: "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." (Answer: Dirty Dancing.) But this rather feeble attempt at a "cool" opening line actually gets Simeon quite far in the competition, largely because Simeon starts out with an attribute that virtually all of the other The Pickup Artist 2 cast members lack: audacity.
Simeon also shines in one of the final challenges on the show, when he shares his Pickup Artist skills with a friend whom he's given 24 hours to train. Simeon wins the challenge, proving that he not only knows the requisite Pickup Artist skills - like "kino escalation," looking for I.O.I (indicators of interest), demonstrating higher value - but also that he can teach these pickup techniques to others. This win is key for Simeon because as the winner of The Pickup Artist 2, he not only wins $50,000, but he also receives an offer to tour with the show's hosts, Matador, Tara and Mystery, as they teach the "art of pickup" to men the world over.
Simeon vs. Matt: The Final Episode of The Pickup Artist 2
The Pickup Artist 2 started with a total of nine awkward men with bad hair and bad clothes:

- Kevin, "The Underdog;"
- Karl, "The Brokenhearted Kid;
- Todd, "The Girls Best Friend;"
- Brian, "The Stutterer;"
- Rian, "The Patron Saint of the Overlooked;"
- Greg, "The Loner;"
- Matt, "The Guy Who Always Puts His Foot in His Mouth;"
- Simeon, "The Hi-Pitch Hottie."
The cast members of The Pickup Artist 2 were eliminated one by one, until only Matt and Simeon remained. In the final episode of The Pickup Artist 2, Simeon was left to compete against Matt in the final challenge. Matt could be described as Simeon's antithesis: calm, classy, rather reserved, but some of these attributes seem to put Matt a bit behind Simeon in the final challenge.
Mystery and his two "wings," Tara and Matador, select Simeon to be the next Pickup Artist. Simeon's win and new title of "The Pickup Artist" makes him a member of a very exclusive club with one other member: Cosmo, the winner of season one of The Pickup Artist.
Simeon's win and new title as "The Pickup Artist" means he'll soon begin touring with Mystery, Tara and Matador, so fans of Simeon should keep an eye out for this budding ladies man.
