Scott Voted Off American IdolRecaps – April 8, 2009 – AI, America’s Next Top Model
Anoop, Scott and Lil Rounds were the bottom three on AI, and Frankie Avalon represented Simon's birth year. Issues of weight haunted ANTM's London.
On AI the top seven were announced, the crowd tried to save a favorite. On AMNT the girls tried to show off their acting skills at a Covergirl commercial shoot. Several of the girls looked good, but no one’s acting was top notch. AI, “Find Out Who Stays and Who Goes Home Live Tonight”Ryan asked the judges how they felt about last night. Randy said he thought the song choices were wrong last night, and Kara added that some of the beginning front runners had fallen behind. Frankie Avalon surprised the audience with his hit “Venus,” in honor of the year Simon was born, although Simon claimed he was born ten years after. The group performed Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” and the Ford commercial (a magic show to Britney Spear’s “Circus”) was incredible! The judges were given a chance to comment on Adam’s performance. Randy said he was “the bomb,” Kara agreed with the standing ovation and Paula loved seeing him restrained with such a big song. Flo Rida and season five contestant Kellie Pickler performed. Anoop, Scott and Lil were in the bottom three. These three were no surprise because of the comments last night, but Simon said the save could definitely come in to play tonight. Scott had the least amount of votes, and he sang “The Search is Over” by Survivor again. After the performance Simon said two judges wanted to save him and two judges wanted to let him go. The crowd screamed to save him, but in the end the verdict was for him to go home. ANTM, “Acting Like a Model”The models exercised their acting skills with Paulina Porizkova. Her reaction to most of them was that they should stick to “beauty modeling.” Next, the models had to compete in an acting challenge with Clay Aiken as their screen partner. Thalia seemed to be the worst. Clay said she was lazy and insecure. London won, and Celia was shocked because she thought her comedic rendition should’ve won. London shared her prize of $5,000 worth of jeans with the rest of the girls because she didn’t fit in them. Cycle 11 winner McKey helped at the girls’ first Covergirl commercial. Celia, Aminat, Teyona and Allison were group one. Natalie, Fo, London and Thalia were group two. The teams were given a script but also used a teleprompter. Aminat had a problem with her lines, and Teyona had a hard time focusing on the camera. Allison was flat and stumbled a lot. Natalie felt very confident, but Jay said her performance was just average. London’s performance was too much of a sales pitch. Thalia’s lack of personality in her acting class carried over to the commercial shoot. Plus, she had a lot of problems with her lines. At the elimination the judges told the models Celia seemed too old, Teyona squinted too much, Allison looked like the client but was too quiet and Aminat chopped some words. They also said London was hard and sloppy, Natalie needed to be flirtier, Fo stuttered and Thalia looked old and angry. In private the judges said Celia was the best of the worst, Fo was better as an actress than a model and Thalia looked gorgeous. The judges hated Aminat’s performance and were surprised by Natalie. They also commented on how London’s body is going down hill. It came down to Allison and Thalia, and Thalia went home because she couldn’t open up.
