Week 5 of season 8 of The Biggest Loser was filled with changes, surprises, and a heartbreaking goodbye to a beloved contestant.

Week 5 was a challenging week for The Biggest Loser contestants of season 8. Contestants were forced to face their fears, let go of partner support, and put their fate in the hands of the most hated player of the season thus far.

The Wheel of Temptation Challenge

The first challenge of week five gave contestants the option of spinning a wheel of silver platters. Beneath the platters could be $1000 or up to 1000 calorie desert that had to be consumed if landed on. The greatest prize lie under the platter that had a card that would allow one player to decide who would be put on the new blue and black teams, as well as which team would have which trainer. Everyone was shocked and very unhappy when Tracey landed on the platter that gave her this platter. Tracey had previously been notorious for backstabbing other contestants and it was feared she would do this again.

Teams are Chosen

Tracey chooses teams that she believes will work to her advantage. She chooses Bob as her trainer after facing Jillian's wrath in previous episodes. Tracey splits up teammates Danny and Liz, Dina and Rudy, and Amanda and Rebecca. This was a particularly harsh action because these three teams relied on one another. Tracey knew that Amanda had formed a bond with trainer Bob and leaned on him for support so she made sure that Amanda would be on Jillian's team. Tracey built her team of players she believed would be most likely to win. Her biggest mistake was underestimating her fellow teammates.

Liz Collapses

In week five of season 8 of The Biggest Loser Liz pushes herself as hard as she can, partially motivated by her anger at Tracey over splitting up her and Danny. Liz ends up collapsing. She has done too much and eaten too little. After a break and a snack Liz rebounds and gets back to work.

Videos from Home

The prize for the challenge this week was a video from home. Contestants had to carry one teammate up a hill and through mud. The team that got to the top of the hill the fastest was given a video made by a family member of each member of the team. The blue team wins and the generous nature of the contestants shine through. Rebecca tries to give up her video so that a tearful Dina can watch the video her family made for her. Dina declines but it grateful. Liz surprises Danny by giving up her video for her family so that Danny can see the one made by his wife and kids.

Weigh-in and Elimination

After a grueling last chance workout the black team wins the weigh-in. Tracey was surprised by this because she had been certain she had picked the winning team for herself. At first everyone is planning on sending Tracey home because of her dirty game play. In the end Coach Moe makes an appeal to be sent home. He believes he is the weakest link of the team and is also in a great deal of pain. In the end Coach Moe is eliminated.

In a progress report after the show viewers were able to see that Coach Moe continued to lose weight at home and was doing well.
