The Alter Ego Photos are Revealed and Kim Finally Sings

There are hints of the looming drama to come as Kim wants to cut NeNe from "The Party". It will get messy.

The Thursday (September 17, 2009) episode of the The Real Housewives of Atlanta was somewhat tame; however, it did set viewers up for the likely drama that will air in the next few episodes.

Muscle Men and Housewives

Episode 8 begins with Sha-Ray at the gym with her trainer, Cliff. According to Sha-ray, Cliff is the best personal trainer in Atlanta and trains all of Atlanta’s elite. So, naturally, he trains Sha-Ray. The workout ensues, Sha-Ray, who is very fit, discusses men with her trainer. Cliff has the idea to set Sha-Ray up with a new man friend.

Later on, Sha-Ray goes to one of Cliff’s “competitions.” Apparently, Cliff “competes” in silver under garments, a vest, and a top hat. While at the competition, Cliff tries to set Sha-Ray up with a muscle man. She is stuck talking to this man, and in turn misses the entire competition. For once, viewers actually feel bad for Sha-Ray. The man she is stuck talking to is a robot, with no body fat and big muscles, so not Sha-Ray’s type.

Kim was Almost Tardy for the Party

Kandi and her producer friends have been hard at work making Kim’s country song, “Don’t Be Tardy for the Party,” into a drag queen dance/pop song. Kandi invites Kim, because she needs Kim to lay down some tracks (also known as yelling, “don’t be tardy for the party” into the mic about 30 times).

Kim shows up, dressed like an overgrown Little Bo-Peep, and listens to Kandi’s progress. Kim is excited and impressed, that is until Kandi expects her to record…she is too scared to record. Since Kim’s last disaster in the studio, she has no self-confidence in her singing ability (or lack thereof) and must face her fear. Just like giving birth to her children, she has to go through with it. And…she does! She successfully yells, “Don’t be tardy for the party” repeatedly for about 15 seconds. Kandi and her friends put Kim’s words into a magic machine, and out comes a song.

Kim is so happy she smokes a cigarette, cries, group hugs everyone, and then decides to give NeNe the axe. Oh, no she didn’t! Yes, she did, this is her moment. She did this all by herself and does not want NeNe to be a part of it.

The Alter Ego Black Tie Event

The ladies of Atlanta get all dolled up for the big black tie event. NeNe is excited about the new version of “Don’t be Tardy for the Party” that Kandi has created. Apparently, she does not know yet that she has been axed from the project. Kim’s daughter, Brielle, asks her something viewers everywhere have been wondering: “why do you buy clothes that are too small?” Good question, little girl.

At the event, everyone mingles and sips fluorescent colored drinks and ogles Derek Blanks’s amazing Alter Ego photos. The photos of the five Housewives are covered because they will be revealed later in the evening.

Sha-Ray shows up, looking like an extra on Last of the Mohicans, and she and Lisa have a little chat. See, in episode 7, Sheree showed up two hours late for Lisa’s Closet Freak fashion show, and they haven’t talked since. They have a friendly conversation about how amazing Lisa’s show was and how it “wasn’t a pretend fashion show.” Lisa is oh so good at those innocent, subtle digs.

Meanwhile, Kim steps outside to smoke, and well, she eats it. Totally falls, and totally hurts herself. She tries to play it cool, but then realizes that she could get a lot of attention for this, so she lies in the back seat of her car,smokes cigarettes, and whines. Guests mingle around Kim's car because the party has moved outside, to all the action. NeNe remarks that people are coming by to look at Kim as if she is an animal at the zoo.

What would one do in this situation? Play their hot new single? Well, of course, and this is exactly what Kim does. NeNe hears the song and is excited to get working on this collaboration. Poor NeNe, Kim has other plans for you. As in, not being on the song plans. This will all come to head in the next episode, and it will not be pretty.

The photos are revealed and major props must go out to Derek Blanks, the pictures are amazing. All the ladies are happy with their pictures, and Kim is moaning in pain. Her ankle has escalated to newfound pain and she must leave for the hospital. The rest of the group goes inside to eat cake and cheer about how amazing they were in their photos.

Next week something is going to hit the fan. NeNe is not happy about being cut from the song and Sha-Ray has a tacky Independence Party. Also, Kim discusses wanting a “ring”…will Big Poppa finally be revealed? Ohhh, the anticipation!
