Models of the Runway Season 1 Episode 6 Recap

Movie Genre Design Challenge & Model Selection Game Changer

Sep 25, 2009 Allen Williams

Designers created chic movie genre looks for the models this week. Heidi announces a change in the model selection process that places all of the models in danger.

Last week, the Project Runway models faced the paper as fabric challenge and had to walk the runway in delicate, rigid designs. Johnny offered up a lackluster dress and was eliminated, placing Emarie in danger. Each of the designers remained loyal to their models and none of them switched. Due to this, Emarie who had been paired with the losing designer was eliminated.

This week's challenge required the designers to take inspiration from movie genres to create a look. With many chic and sophisticated looks, a few popular designers delivered less than exciting designs.

The following episode summary contains spoilers, including the which model wins the weekly challenge and which one is eliminated.

Design Challenge Results & Designer Elimination

The episode opens with Ra'mon and Louise in the bottom two, with Heidi announcing Ra'mon as the one being eliminated. Vanessa tried not to get emotional but with her designer out of the competition, she knew that she would be in jeopardy.

Ra'mon came to the model room and said his goodbyes to Vanessa. The models later went to the runway to meet with Heidi. Vanessa explained to her that she didn't like his reptile dress design. Celine, with the winning designer Nicolas, loved her ice queen look.

Back at the model apartment, Vanessa went to her room and cried. Vanessa had only worked with Ra'mon and worried no other designers would select her. She talked about it with her dream team friends, Lisa and Tanisha.

Matar and Fatma went for a walk and hoped their designers would stick with them for another week. Matar felt safe with Epperson and Fatma talked of how she had bonded with Louise. Several models went to a frozen yogurt shop and each ate a bowl the size of their head while they talked about how loyal the designers have been.

Models of the Runway Model Elimination

Heidi met the fashion designers at the runway and brought out the models. She told the designers it was easy to play it safe and work with the same model each week, but that this week each designer would need to select a new model. Vanessa was thrilled and thought she would have a chance at staying this week.

The winning designer Nicolas started by selecting Kalyn while Christopher chose Celine. Epperson selected Tanisha, Gordana took Matar, Logan picked Lisa, Irina picked Katie, Carol Hannah chose Ebony, Shirin selected Vanessa, Althea paired with Tara, and Louise had to pick Koji since she had already worked with Fatma. Due to this, Fatma was eliminated.

Fatma left in good spirits and said her goodbyes. She packed her bags with Matar then left the model apartment.
