On the June 24, 2009 episode of I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, Episode 15, a ruler of the jungle was crowned on the first season finale.
Torrie, Lou and John’s Final Fight for Food
The last food challenge for the final three celebrities had them wishing them were somewhere better than the I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! spa. Each celebrity had to complete two spa-like tasks, collecting two stars during each task, in order to receive food that night.
Torrie had to search for stars in a sink full of cockroaches. She also had to find two stars in a hot tub full of crocodiles. Torrie loved the crocodiles, and she gave one a kiss before getting out of the tub.
John had to find stars with his mouth in a bin of vomit fruit. He also had to move stars throughout a clear box filled with snakes. Lou reached in to tanks filled with spiders and frogs and received a disgusting spray tan for his stars.
That night everyone, having completed their tasks, received a dish they had been craving. Torrie had pizza, John had a vegetarian burger and Lou had chicken and mashed potatoes.
Over dinner the finalists explained why winning is so important to them. Torrie said she wanted to be on the show to be a role model to young girls, and Lou was looking to win for his family.
The First I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! Live Reunion
Most of the celebrities were back in the jungle for the live reunion and crowning of the king or queen of the jungle. Unfortunately, Frances and Angela did not return but no reason was given for their absence.
Speidi were asked about their attitudes in the jungle, and Spencer said he thought a lot more of the other celebrities since leaving the jungle - because they had increased his own celebrity status.
Before joining the others, the three finalists remembered their time together. They talked about the amazing friendships they had made and the lessons they had learned. Lou said he doesn’t think any movie set could compare to being on the show, and Torrie said she was surprised to have made it so far.
Before announcing the winner, the hosts narrowed it down to two finalists – Torrie and Lou.
Lou looked very nervous waiting for the final announcement and seemed relieved when the hosts announced America had voted him the winner of the first season of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!.
