Six more dancers are forced to dance a solo for safety; Kelly Clarkson and professional dancers Desmond Richardson and Patricia Hachey perform

On the July 2, 2009 episode of So You Think You Can Dance, 2 of 14 Voted Off, the audience and the dancers learned who had made the top 12. Also, the top 20 performed an amazing theatrical dance to Brand New Day from The Wiz (choreographed by Tyce Diorio), and Kelly Clarkson and professional dancers Desmond Richardson and Patricia Hachey performed.

SYTYCD Bottom Three – Week 4

Karla and Vitolio and Randi and Evan were the first to couples brought to center stage. Both couples had positive and negative comments from the judges, but only Randi and Evan were safe. Karla and Vitolio were the first couple in the bottom three, and Nigel didn’t seem surprised by the news.

Next, Janette and Brandon, Kayla and Kupono and Melissa and Ade were brought to the stage next. Janette and Brandon were quickly announced safe, but the other two pairs had to wait until the audience had relived both of their previous night’s performances. Of the two couples, Kayla and Kupono were in the bottom three. Mia said she was shocked by the results because she felt they were the best performance the previous night and could not have done anything better.

Lastly, Caitlin and Jason and Jeanine and Phillip joined the host at center stage. Jeanine and Phillip were the final bottom three couple. Caitlin looked stunned by her safety, and Nigel thought it must have been because everyone has different tastes.

SYTYCD Solos – Week 4

Karla’s performance was a little funky for the song choice (Blackbird by Dionne Farris) because her movements were fast paced but the song had a slow pace. Vitolio’s performance was fantastic. His movements were strong but showed a lot of emotion. Kayla’s performance was beautiful because of her elegant leaps and turns, and she really showed why she is one of the judges’ favorites.

Kupono’s performance didn’t seem strong compared to the previous performances. His movements were odd and seemed more sporadic than choreographed. Jeanine’s performance was classic, and her jumps were extraordinary. Phillip’s performance was hot! His hip-hop moves were amazing and a huge crowd-pleaser.

SYTYCD Elimination – Week 4

The judges’ decision to send Karla home was unanimous. Nigel said Jeanine’s solo was the strongest solo of the evening. He then told Kayla she seemed like she wasn’t dancing from the heart in her solo and told Karla she no longer had the star quality she did in the beginning.

The decision to send Vitolio home was also unanimous. Nigel said the judges felt Phillip overworked his solo. He said Vitolio isn’t delivering a great performance, just a great presence, and Kupono had weak choreography and poor passion.
