Jillian Picks Top 20 on Bachelorette Premiere
The Bachelorette, Week 1
Jillian Harris, 29, from Vancouver, is ABC’s newest bachelorette. Jillian was asked to be on the show after being rejected by The Bachelor’s Jason Mesnick. On the first episode, Week 1, Jillian met the men and narrowed her choice to 20.
The First Mingle
Before meeting the men Jillian sat down with Chris Harrison, the host. She said she never expected to be doing this, and she is ready to put her love life in front of her career. After meeting the men Jillian said she was impressed with the selection.
Most of the men wanted to know what it was like to be on the other side of the game. She said it was insane. The men thought Jillian was amazing and the most adorable woman they had ever seen. She gave everyone chills, and she looked so confident talking to all of them.
Jake was first to steal her away. She was impressed with his career. They began talking about his family, but Jesse interrupted them. To stand out Jesse showed Jillian the “Aspiring Canadian” shirt he was wearing under his dress shirt.
Tanner F. told Jillian that he wanted to marry his best friend. Jillian pulled Kiptyn to the side, and the two talked about their intentions. She asked him his hot dog topping, and she was impressed with his answer – ketchup.
Jillian quickly learned the process wasn’t as black and white as she had thought.
Wes wanted to show his was really committed to this, so he performed the song he wrote on the guitar. Some of the guys thought it was tough to beat.
Jillian was really excited to learn to break dance from Michael, and the two seemed to have a lot of fun. Greg got in on the action, and he and Michael battled for Jillian’s attention.
Party Crashers
Jillian and the men were very surprised to learn that five more men were going to be added to the mix. The five men introduced themselves to Jillian, and the 25 men were very jealous of the special attention.
Jillian stole Ed away. He said his family thinks they would be a great fit, and he is open to the idea.
Tanner P. was the oddest of the bunch. He loves feet, and he was trying every way he could to see Jillian’s feet. He took her for a walk by the pool and suggested they dip their feet in. Jillian said she felt comfortable with him, and he thought her feet were “phenomenal.”
First Impression Rose
Jillian decided to give her first impression rose to David. She said it wasn’t because he froze up outside but because he had a fantastic second impression. Jillian added that she thought they would have fun together. He was really excited and couldn’t stop smiling.
The Rose Ceremony
Before handing out the roses, Jillian and Chris talked privately. Jillian said she thought the added men were great, and she wanted to make sure the five men that came late got some attention.
She said she loved Michael because he was himself and was active. She thought Kyle’s artistic side was entertaining. Wes got “brownie points” for writing Jillian a country song.
Jillian handed out her first set of roses, and Adam, Bryan, Bryce, Caleb, John H., John P., Josh, Kyle, Greg and Stephen were sent home.
