James J.T. Thomas, Jr. Wins Survivor: TocantinSurvivor: Tocantins, I Trust You But I Trust Me More – P. 2Erinn tries to tear apart J.T. and Stephen; The jury questions Stephen being in the final two; Stephen and J.T. battle for one million dollars
The May 17, 2009 episode of Survivor: Tocantins, I Trust You But I Trust Me More, was the final episode of the season. Immunity ChallengeThe final immunity challenge was about concentration and quickness. The players had a wire maze that they had to drop a ball at the top of and then catch at the bottom. As the game progressed more balls were added and if your ball dropped you were out. The last person standing won immunity and the only vote at tribal council. Erinn was out first. J.T. and Stephen made it to the fourth ball added to the game, but Stephen flinched and dropped his ball, giving J.T. immunity. Erinn’s Play for SurvivalErinn had to make a plea for her safety, and she decided to start with J.T. Erinn told J.T. Stephen had told her he would’ve taken her to the final two if he had won immunity. J.T. began to wonder if Stephen would really stay loyal to him and if his choice wasn’t as easy as he had thought. J.T. confronted Stephen about Erinn’s statement, and Stephen told him it was false. Stephen could tell that J.T. wasn’t convinced, though. Tribal CouncilAt tribal council Erinn and Stephen explained their strategies. Erinn said she had told J.T. she wouldn’t stand a chance winning against him. Stephen said he told J.T. he would forever stay loyal to him and their friendship would probably change if he chose Erinn. J.T. decided to eliminate Erinn and take Stephen to the final two. Questions from the JuryThe jury question and answer portion began with an opening statement from each player. Stephen said the experience has made him a better person, and everyone in the game helped him through a game that has made him stronger. J.T. said he had worked really hard to be at the end, and he felt he had outplayed and outwitted Stephen. He also reminded the jury that he had never been voted for. Stephen and J.T. argued twice during the portion. The two fought after J.T. said he believed Stephen hid in the shadows during some of the challenges, and the two fought after Stephen claimed he saved Taj several times when J.T. wanted to vote him out. J.T. said he should’ve taken Erinn with him, and Stephen looked shocked. Debbie asked Stephen who he would’ve taken if he had won immunity. Stephen said he didn’t know, but Debbie made him answer. Stephen said Erinn. Sierra told J.T. he lost her respect when he decided to take Erinn and Stephen to the end over Taj. She felt he needed to be next to a strong player, but J.T. said Stephen was one of the strongest. Tyson asked J.T. if he thought he needed Stephen to make it to the finals. J.T. said Stephen was helpful, but he could’ve done it on his own. The next shot was the group at the live reunion. There J.T. was announced as the unanimous winner.
