J Kicked Out of Kitchen During Service

Recap - Hell's Kitchen

Mar 20, 2009 Amanda Hamilton

The red kitchen became two against two with a new chef in charge. One chef didn't even make it to the elimination ceremony.

This week the teams prepared tapas, one chef almost quit during prep and the fate of two chefs hung by a thread during elimination.

Red became Andrea and Paula versus LA and Carol when Andrea and Paula suggested LA do some more work.

The remaining chefs tasted several tapas from one of Ramsay’s restaurant and were asked to make their own small dishes from leftovers in 20 minutes. Before they started Giovanni was sent to the red team.

Ramsay said Paula’s steak and eggs were good and Danny’s filet mignon was nice, and he awarded them both a point. Ramsay didn’t like Lacey’s bruschetta or LA’s asparagus and ginger soup, so neither of them got a point. Carole’s seared tuna was dry, but Robert’s lamb loin had great flavor and awarded the point to Robert. Andrea got the point over J because Andrea’s lobster ravioli had great flavor while J’s lobster was boring. The last point came down to Giovanni or Ben. Giovanni’s surf n’ turf won, although Ramsay loved Ben’s grilled tuna.

The winners took a trip to Hollywood Park, and the losers had to set up both kitchens for dinner service later that night.

Before leaving Giovanni told the red team they need to pull together and get over their petty issues.

During set up Lacey complained and whined about everything. She said no one treats her like an equal, and Ben said it’s like babysitting. Robert tried to help, but she wouldn’t listen. Instead she left the kitchen saying, “I quit. I quit.” Ben hunted her down and told her they needed her, so she returned.

During dinner service Carol was yelled at because of a mistake that was half Andrea’s, but Andrea said nothing. The two were called out and forced to eat the raw pasta dish at a table in the dining room. LA was half asleep. On the blue side, J overcooked the rice during prep and messed up the seafood. Ramsay took him outside and screamed at him, but when J didn’t approve Ramsay kicked him out of the kitchen for good. Ben also got screamed at privately, but he was kept. On a positive note, Ramsay said Paula rocked it and Giovanni really rose as a leader.

After service Carol confronted Andrea about not saying anything, but Paula and Giovanni told her to get over it. The blue team lost and were forced to think of the one person they want gone.

At elimination, Ben, Robert and Danny said they wanted Lacey gone. They told Ramsay she wasn’t a team player and she quit during prep. He asked Lacey and Ben to step forward, and when Ben was asked who performed the worst, he had to say himself because it was the truth.

It was close, but Ramsay decided to keep both, although he said Ben would have been the one to go if J hadn’t been kicked out.
