Hell's Kitchen Season 5 Episodes 8 and 9Episode Recaps of two episodes of the FOX Reality Show
The Red team is rewarded with a TV Guide photo shoot in Episode 8; while King Crab proves to be a challenge for the aspiring chefs in Episode 9.
After J's removal from Hell's Kitchen during dinner service, the 9 remaining chefs are relieved that no one else is sent home during elimination. Hell's Kitchen Episode 8The chefs report to the kitchen the next morning where they sample steak and scallops tartar prepared by Chef Ramsay. The chefs proclaim that is the best steak and scallops they have ever tasted. Ramsay tells them that the steak is actually tuna and the scallops are actually sea bass. The challenge for the chefs is a blind taste test, where each chef has to try and correctly identify four ingredients each. The team that identifies the most ingredients will win the challenge. LA chooses to sit out for the Red team so that the teams are even. The winning team will participate in a TV Guide photo shoot, while the losing team caters the photo shoot and preps both kitchens for dinner service. The Red team identifies the most ingredients and wins the challenge. With celebrities in the restaurant for dinner, the kitchens are poised to have good services. However, the kitchens struggle. Lacey is thrown out of the kitchen, twice. The second time Chef Ramsay throws her out, he asks for her jacket and tells her to leave Hell's Kitchen. After Lacey leaves, there are only three members left on the Blue team. The remaining chefs pull together and successfully finish dinner service. The Red team is instructed to nominate two chefs for elimination. They nominate Carol, but they cannot agree on who the second nominee should be. At elimination, Chef Ramsay has Carol, Andrea, and LA come forward. After hearing their reasons why they should each remain in Hell's Kitchen, Ramsay tells LA to hang up her jacket and leave. Hell's Kitchen Episode 9The next morning, the chefs are given a king crab challenge. Each chef must make one dish using king crab, and then each kitchen must select one dish to present to Chef Ramsay. The Blue team picks Ben's dish, while the Red team selects Andrea's dish. Chef Ramsay feels that the selected dishes are unimaginative and has Paula and Danny bring their dishes forward. After tasting these two dishes, Chef Ramsay declares Danny the winner. The Blue team gets to head to the beach with Chef Ramsay, ride Segways and have a crab luncheon. Unfortunately, there is a weight limit for the Segways, so Robert has to ride a bicycle instead. While the Blue team is at the beach, the Red team has to clean both kitchens, both dorms, and prep all the king crab being used in the following night's dinner service. At prep, Chef Ramsay tells the teams that they get to prepare their own menus for dinner service. The teams return to the dorms to create their menus. Customers can order from either menu, and the orders for each kitchen are relatively even. Each team's potato side dish causes problems for the kitchens, and food is slow in leaving the pass. However, food is rapidly being returned to each kitchen because it is improperly prepared. Chef Ramsay finally closes down the kitchen. Chef Ramsay chooses the winner based on the customer comment cards. The entrees from the Red kitchen were rated higher by customers than those from the Blue kitchen, so the Red team is declared the winner. Danny is named the Best of the Worst for the Blue team, and is instructed to nominate one person for elimination. Danny nominates Ben. Chef Ramsay asks both Ben and Robert to state their reasons why they should remain in Hell's Kitchen. In the end, Ramsay declares both Ben and Robert safe, and sends Carol home.
