Chef Ramsay Samples Two Meal Services, One Chef is Eliminated

Mar 6, 2009 Beth VanHoose

Both kitchens have the chance to prove their worth to Chef Ramsay during two meal services in Hell's Kitchen on Episode 4.

After facing elimination for the second time, Seth is at odds with Giovanni as the teams return to their dorms. Robert does a decent impression of Chef Ramsay to lighten the mood.

Teamwork

When the chefs report to the kitchen the following morning, Chef Ramsay asks Carol who she believes is the strongest chef on the Red Team. With little hesitation, Carol responds that it is Andrea, along with herself. When the same question is posed to the Blue Team, Danny is not afraid to speak up and declare himself the best.

Chef Ramsay is not satisfied with their answers, saying that working as teams, they should all be equal. Ramsay says that the one ingredient that seems to be missing from each kitchen is teamwork.

Open for Breakfast

With that, Chef Ramsay announces that Hell's Kitchen will be open for breakfast. The Blue Team will be cooking for the Pacific Coast Youth Football team; while the Red Team will be cooking for the cheerleaders. The first team to serve fifty kids will win the breakfast challenge.

Both kitchens have problems getting a rhythm. In the Red kitchen, Colleen is more interested in cheering with the youth squad than in cooking with her team. In the Blue kitchen, Seth cannot keep up with the egg orders, and Chef Ramsay yells at Robert for sloppy presentation.

The Blue Team takes an early lead but quickly loses it when Seth falls behind on the eggs. Each team has four tickets remaining and it is a race to see who would finish first. The Red Team successfully serves all their cheerleaders the fastest, winning their first reward challenge.

Reward and Punishment

As Chef Ramsay thanks the kids for coming and sends them on their way, many of them ask him for an autograph. After fulfilling their requests, he returns to the kitchen to tell the teams what is in store for them that afternoon.

Since they won the challenge, the Red Team is to get ready for a day of camping, Beverly Hills style. The women would be lounging poolside at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel for the day. While the women are relaxing in the sun, the Blue Team is to clean both kitchens and all the tables in the dining room. In addition, they are to prep both kitchens for the Hell's Kitchen dinner service that evening.

Hell's Kitchen Dinner Service

When the women return from their reward, they discover that prep is not complete and they have to finish their prep after they change clothes. During dinner service, Andrea goes into the Blue kitchen in search of the sauce needed for the salmon. Since it was not made during prep, Ben prepares it for her, but cannot get it right. Danny then takes over. Chef Ramsay accuses the men of trying to sabotage the women.

Dinner service does not go well. Seth overcooks the scallops, making them rubbery. After an hour, food is finally leaving the kitchens, but not without problems. A salad is returned to the Blue kitchen because a diner found the lettuce stem in her salad. Ben tries to send out puny lamb chops, and Danny falls behind in garnishes. To top off the Blue Team's troubles, Seth does not listen as Chef Ramsay calls out the orders.

In the Red kitchen, Coi has trouble with the spaghetti lobster appetizers. They are being returned to the kitchen for various reasons. Some have undercooked spaghetti, while others are missing the lobster. Colleen is having trouble keeping orders straight, and she and LA do not seem to be on the same wavelength at the meat station.

Declaring a Winner

After a horrible dinner service, Chef Ramsay decides that neither team has won. Each team must nominate two chefs for elimination and Chef Ramsay will choose one of the four nominated chefs to leave Hell's Kitchen.

Although it was Coi's worst performance so far, the Red Team again Colleen and Lacey for elimination. Chef Ramsay declares that the stem in the salad, which had been prepared by J, was one of the worst things to ever happen in Hell's Kitchen. However, J is spared nomination as the Blue Team chooses Ben and Seth.

Elimination from Hell's Kitchen

After each of the four chefs pleads his or her case, Chef Ramsay makes his decision. Seth is chosen as the chef to leave Hell's Kitchen this week.

After Seth leaves Hell's Kitchen, Chef Ramsay makes another announcement. Starting with the next prep, Lacey will now be part of the Blue Team. While the women are overjoyed and the men are less than excited, Lacey views the switch as her fresh start in Hell's Kitchen.
