American Idol stars sing hits from the Grand Ole Opry. Dancing with the Stars has their first dance off, and Jewell performed.

The AI contestants sang their hearts out for a spot in the top 11. Belinda and Steve battled for their spot on DWTS but only one got to stay.

American Idol, "The Top 11 Perform"

Tonight American Idol celebrated the Grand Ole Opry, and Randy Travis guest starred.

Adam sang a version of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” that Randy said, “threw me for a loop.” “It was strange, but I liked it,” Kara said. Simon thought it was “indulgent rubbish.”

Alexis sang Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” Randy didn’t feel Alexis hit the notes quite right. Kara thought she lost her edge, and Simon thought it was OK but wasn’t very original.

Allison sang Patty Loveless’ “Blame it on Your Heart.” The audience loved her, and Kara felt Allison made it her own. Paula called it, “another rock solid performance.”

Anoop sang Willie Nelson’s “You Were Always on My Mind.” Paula said the song fit perfectly. Simon said it was one of his favorite performances of the night.

Danny sang Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take the Wheel.” Paula liked his buildup, but Kara disagreed. Paula even said that she thought Carrie Underwood would buy the record. Simon agreed that the performance was done really well, but he hated his outfit.

Kris sang Garth Brooks’ “To Make You Feel My Love.” Paula said Kris had some bad pitch moments, but she liked it. Simon thought everything from the song choice to his control was terrific.

Lil sang Martina McBride’s “Independence Day.” The judges kind of fought her on her song choice, but she defended herself by saying she was something new. Kara was happy to hear that she did what she felt was right, but the performance wasn’t her best. Simon thought she looked uncomfortable.

Matt sang Carrie Underwood’s “So Small.” Simon said he out sang Danny and compared him to Michael Buble. Randy called it his favorite performance of the night.

Megan sang Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight.” Randy was surprised and impressed. Kara felt it was the perfect song and perfect look for Megan.

Michael sang Garth Brooks’ “Ain’t Goin’ Down (Til’ the Sun Comes Up).” Randy didn’t think it showed Michael’s vocal capabilities, and Kara missed his big notes, although she was impressed with his memory.

Scott sang Martina McBride’s “Wild Angels.” Paula said the piano is being a crutch, and she needs him to connect with the audience more. Simon thought that was stupid and found nothing wrong with Scott always using the piano.

Dancing with the Stars: Results, "802A"

Steve-O returned to learn the results. He explained that his front flip idea was a horrible idea, but his back is not fractured.

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta, Shawn Johnson and Mark, Chuck Wicks and Julianne and David Alan Grier and Kym, Denise Richards and Maks, Melissa Rycroft and Tony, Lil’ Kim and Derek and Gilles Marini and Cheryl were announced safe.

Jewell performed “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” while Chelsie and Dmitry danced.

Holly Madison and Dmitry, Ty Murray and Chelsie and Steve-O and Lacey were all safe, meaning Steve Wozniak and Karina and Belinda Carlisle and Jonathon had to compete in the first ever dance off.

Belinda and Jonathon chose their salsa. Len thought the hip action was improved, but Bruno thought she lost the footwork. Carrie Ann didn’t think it was an improvement as a whole. Score – 17

Steve and Karina chose their quickstep. Bruno said it was entertaining, Carrie Ann admitted Steve was better tonight and Len was happy he at least tried. Score – 17

Ultimately, Belinda and Jonathon were sent home.
