Jen's fear of water put her and Kisha behind. Tammy and Victor enjoy their language advantage. Margie and Luke and Jen and Kisha's feud continued to heat up.

On the April 26, 2009 episode of The Amazing Race the teams headed to Beijing, China, where they competed in a swimming task that left Jen completely frozen. Also, the night’s pit stop was actually a clue to be revealed during next week’s episode.

Welcome to Beijing

The teams’ first stop was Beijing. Kisha and Jen were the first to leave, followed by Tammy and Victor, Margie and Luke and Jaime and Cara. Tammy and Victor felt especially confident about going to Beijing because they spoke the language and are very familiar with the area.

Margie and Luke ran in to trouble when buying tickets because of their credit card, and Kisha and Jen used the problem as an opportunity to cut in line. Tammy’s and Victor’s knowledge of the language gave them an advantage immediately when they were able to request seats as close to the front of the plane as possible.

Clues Don't Come Without Pain

Everyone arrived in Beijing at 8:05 p.m. Tammy and Victor were first to leave for the foot massage place where they could find their next clue. Jaime and Cara were the first to arrive there and find the roadblock. To get the clue one person had to drink medicinal tea and endure a painful, traditional 10-minute foot massage.

Cara, who hates having her feet touch, did not enjoy the massage and was almost in tears. Kisha and Jen arrived second, and Kisha decided to complete the task. Tammy put the girls to shame, spending her massage in a Zen-like state. Luke also completed the task.

Jaime and Cara were first to leave, but Kisha and Jen weren’t far behind. They were told to go to the natatorium, but everyone had a very hard time finding a cab driver who knew where to go. There was a fight for cabs between Jaime and Cara and Tammy and Victor, but Tammy and Victor had the last laugh because Jaime and Cara went the wrong way.

Sink or Swim

At the natatorium the teams had to decide to swim 400 meters or complete a synchronize jump and receive a score of five or higher. Tammy and Victor arrived first and were nervous about having to swim, so they chose to jump. Kisha and Jen, who arrived second, chose to jump for the same reason. Tammy and Victor had a lot of trouble synchronizing their jump, and when Jen got to the top of the board she decided she couldn’t do it. The team inevitably switched to swim.

At the swimming task Kisha and Jen joined Margie and Luke and Jaime and Cara. Margie and Luke had the easiest time with the task, but Jaime and Cara finished first. Their next stop was the pit stop, Drum Tower. Margie and Luke finished second.

Like Kisha and Jen, Tammy and Victor decided to switch to the swimming task, finished in good time and left for the pit stop third.

Before Kisha even finished her laps, Jen decided to go back to the other task. They jumped twice, and Jen began to break down. Each time getting back on the board was a struggle for her, but Kisha kept pushing her. Finally, Jen broke down in to tears and said she wanted to go home. Kisha eventually got Jen back in the pool to complete the swimming task.

Jaime and Cara were first at the pit stop for the first time, but they were surprised to find that the pit stop was actually another clue. The episode was to be continued.
