Ed Leaves the Bachelorette in Episode 5Jillian Took the Bachelors to the Whistler Ski ResortOn the fifth episode of The Bachelorette, Jillian broke down when Ed left, she sent Mark home, and she tried to uncover which bachelors still had girlfriends back home.
Jillian Harris, the bachelorette, had a difficult week at the Whistler Ski Resort due to Ed leaving the show to return to work. She attempted to find out which bachelors had girlfriends back home and which ones were there for the right reasons, and she sent Mark home during the rose ceremony. Michael’s Individual DateJillian took Michael on the first individual date of the week. Her note to him said, “Come fly with me.” They start the date by zip lining together. Jillian told Michael that she doesn’t always have to be on the go. She said that she loves sitting at home and watching movies with a bucket of popcorn on a Friday night. They ended the date with a romantic dinner, and Jillian grilled Michael about his reasons for coming on the show. Michael passed the test when he said that he came on the show after being broken up with his last girlfriend for eight months. He said that he hadn’t been on one date since that time and felt that he was meant to come on The Bachelorette. Group DateJillian takes the guys on the group date snowmobiling. The guys split up into pairs for snowmobiling and Jillian chooses Robby to ride on the back of her snowmobile. During their alone time, Robby told Jillian that he was sorry for his behavior at the last rose ceremony. The bachelorette spent time alone with some of the guys to try to figure out who still had a girlfriend. She put Tanner on the spot by asking him who he was referring to when he told her that some of the guys had girlfriends back home. Tanner said that he didn’t want to give her names. During the group date, Ed wasn’t acting like himself and seemed down. Jillian pulled him aside to talk about the change, and Ed told her that his boss gave him an ultimatum. His boss said that he had to return to work or he would lose his job. Ed said that he was looking for a reason to stay, and Jillian gave him the rose to let him know that she wanted him to stick around. Jesse’s Individual DateJillian took Jesse on a helicopter ride to spend the day on a glacier. They looked like little kids playing in the snow while they made snow angels, wrote their initials in the snow, and ran around the glacier. After the day in the snow, Jillian and Jesse had a romantic dinner together where she asked him serious questions. Jillian asked him if he was ready for a relationship and where he saw himself in the future. She told Jesse that she was willing to move for love and didn’t expect the man she chooses to move to Vancouver. Ed Chose WorkJillian met up with Ed to discuss the work situation. Ed brought Jillian to tears by telling her that he has to return to work. It was obvious that she didn’t want him to leave and said that she could have fallen in love with Ed. Ed requested to keep the rose that Jillian gave him on the group date, and Jillian agreed. When Ed was leaving, he said choosing to leave The Bachelorette was the hardest decision he ever had to make. The Rose CeremonyJillian talked to Chris Harrison, the host of The Bachelorette, before the rose ceremony. He asked her if she had settled the girlfriend situation, and Jillian said that she needed to follow her heart and hoped that the bachelor with the girlfriend would come clean. She decided to skip the cocktail party, because she had made her decision. Jillian sent Mark home. When Mark was leaving, he said that he had a difficult time letting down his guard, because he had been cheated on four times. The fifth episode of The Bachelorette included two individual dates, one fun-filled group date, a tearful goodbye, and a rose ceremony.
