DWTS Performs Paso Doble and Viennese WaltzDancing with the Stars, “805”
Gilles Marini barely misses a second perfect score. Melissa Rycroft has problems with aggressive nature of paso doble. Ty Murray loses his dancer side.
Tonight the stars showed off their intense and vulnerable sides with the paso doble and the Viennese waltz. Steve-O had his best dance yet, and Shawn Johnson moved back up the pack. On tomorrow night’s live results show Etta James and Demi Lovato will perform. Also, another star will be eliminated. Chuck Wicks and Julianne danced the Viennese waltz. Their performance was soft and sweet, but it wasn’t the judges favorite performance. Len said Chuck had “finally come out of hibernation.” Carrie Ann upset the audience when she said the dance wasn’t quite together, and Bruno couldn’t help but knock Carrie Ann’s comment down. Score – 23 Lawrence Taylor and Edyta danced the paso doble. Lawrence looked stiff and like he was thinking too much during the entire performance. Bruno thought Lawrence started out without emotion but ended strong. Carrie Ann and Len were happy to see Lawrence’s intense side. Score – 20 Shawn Johnson and Mark danced the Viennese waltz. Their waltz was beautiful, and the studio audience seemed to love them. Carrie Ann loved the simplicity of the dance, and Bruno thought the musicality was great. Len had a little problem with the footwork. Score – 26 Melissa Rycroft and Tony danced paso doble. The routine Tony created this week was fantastic and the technical pieces were great, but Melissa looked uncomfortable with the aggression needed. Bruno and Len said the dance was beautiful but pointed out the few blunders Melissa had. Carrie Ann told Melissa to work on her lines and curves. Score – 25 David Alan Grier and Kym danced the Viennese waltz. This dance was very boring, and it lacked energy. Bruno thought the classic parts were great but the artistic points were not. Carrie Ann said the pair isn’t moving as one. Score – 22 Gilles Marini and Cheryl danced the paso doble. There was a lot of cheering from the studio audience for Gilles, and Bruno and Carrie Ann gave the couple a standing ovation. Carrie Ann said the passion almost brought her to tears, but Len thought the dance was hectic at times. Bruno said Gilles made it more than a dance, and he completely nailed it. Score – 29 Steve-O and Lacey danced the Viennese waltz. This was the most beautiful performance Steve-O has had, and it was as if we were watching a totally different person. Len thought it was his best dance, probably because it lacked tricks and antics. Bruno thought his timing was on, and Carrie Ann thought the emotions were beautiful. Score – 18 Ty Murray and Chelsie danced the paso doble. Ty said he felt extra confident going in to this performance because of his profession, and it really showed. He was intense, strong but not quite on point technically. Bruno and Carrie Ann thought Ty was too stiff, although they liked his intensity. Score – 21 Lil’ Kim and Derek danced the Viennese waltz. Lil’ Kim did beautifully in this week’s performance, but it still didn’t hold a candle to her last week’s tango. Carrie Ann felt the couple was perfectly in sync. Len loved the musicality, but he felt there was a little problem with the footwork. Bruno loved how sassy Lil’ Kim made the Viennese waltz look. Score – 26
