The players participate in the official Survivor auction; Debbie turns on her old alliance member; J.T. and Stephen continue to rule the game

On the May 7, 2009 episode of Survivor: Tocantins, The Ultimate Sacrifice, Debbie decided she could no longer be associated with Coach. As soon as the group arrived back at camp from Sierra’s elimination Debbie began begging Stephen, Taj and J.T. for help.

Survivor Auction

Each player was given $500 to participate in the Survivor auction, and the only rule was the players cannot share food or money.

Debbie won the first prize – a plate of French fries with mayonnaise and ketchup.

Coach won the second prize – chicken parmesan, garlic bread and a glass of red wine.

J.T. won the third prize. The item was covered during bidding, but J.T. lucked out when the plate was revealed with nachos on it.

Stephen also won a covered prize. He wasn’t as lucky because the plate ended up having chicken hearts on it.

The last item was a message from home. Jeff told the players they could give their money to other players if they wanted, and everyone gave their remaining dollars to Taj, who has a young child at home. She was in tears when she watched the message, and she freaked out even more when she realized her husband had said “see you at camp” at the end of the message. Jeff then explained that the only way the other players would get to see their loved ones would be if Taj volunteered to go to Exile Island with her husband. She happily agreed.

Back at camp the tribe members were visited by Erinn’s dad, Coach’s assistant coach, Stephen’s brother, J.T.’s sister and Debbie’s husband.

The Tides are Turning

After Sierra’s elimination Debbie knew she was going to be next to go. She spent the days after that trying to align with Stephen and J.T. She told them she wanted to vote Coach out, and she promised she would do anything to help them. Debbie even promised J.T. and Stephen that if they took her to the final three she would step aside, take third place and let them battle for the million dollars.

J.T. wasn’t sure how much he could trust Debbie’s plan, but Stephen wasn’t sure if he wanted to deal with Coach any longer.

Immunity Challenge

This week’s immunity challenge was an obstacle course with a math problem at the end. The players had to dig a hole and crawl under a bar, walk across a balance beam and memorize a scrolling board that contained the symbols for the math equation.

J.T. was very far ahead of the pack. He was working on his equation almost before anyone else had moved on to the second part of the obstacle course.

Stephen had a lot of trouble crossing the balance beam, but he ended up coming out strong in the end and winning the immunity idol.

Tribal Council

At tribal council Jeff asked how worthy some of the players were of going to the end.

Coach thought Debbie was worthy because he would trust her with his life. He said she was playing the game for integrity, not money.

J.T. was asked if Coach is worthy, and J.T. said that Coach’s constant honesty makes him worthy of going to the end. Debbie thought Coach’s honest could hurt him in the end.

Debbie was eliminated after a vote of 4-1-1. Coach voted for Taj, and Debbie voted for Coach, but the remaining four players voted Debbie out.
