On the June 8, 2009 episode of The Bachelorette, Episode 4 (Season 5), the remaining men traveled to Jillian’s hometown, Vancouver, British Columbia.

Cooking with Kiptyn

Kiptyn and Jillian began their date with kayaking to her favorite public market. Jillian loved feeling like a couple while shopping for dinner. Outside the couple fed the birds, and Jillian was impressed with Kiptyn’s selflessness.

Jillian said she had a great time cooking with Kiptyn, and he was impressed with her chef skills. After dinner they discussed what they are looking for. He also told her how important doing this was for him because he was finally going after something he wanted.

Kiptyn accepted the rose Jillian offered.

Curling in Canada

Jillian took Ed, Jesse, Tanner, Jake, Robby, Wes, Reid, Juan, David and Michael curling. Curling is an Olympic sport, but none of the USA boys knew what they were doing. The boys were split in to two teams – Wes, Ed, Reid, Tanner and Michael vs. Juan, Dave, Jake, Jesse and Robby.

All of the men tried very hard, and Jesse and Michael battled for the winning point. Jesse ended up winning the dinner date for his team.

At dinner Jake and Jillian spent private time together. She told him he doesn’t need to be perfect, and he left feeling confused.

Jillian felt David was becoming more of a buddy, and he couldn’t stop talking about her “ass” during their private time. She thought he was being “too comfortable.”

Jesse accepted the rose he was offered.

Mark vs. Mike

Jillian took Mark and Mike on a helicopter ride.

At dinner Jillian told the men she worries she will never find someone, and Mark was very open when he talked about sometimes he thinks it might be better if he did just buy a dog and move to Alaska.

In private Mike opened up about what he wants out of the situation. He told Jillian he will do whatever it takes to provide for her.

Mark talked about a past long distance relationship in his private time. He said he hasn’t felt like he is feeling since that time. Jillian was happy to hear he is trying to protect himself from heartbreak but warned him of the time issue.

Jillian chose to give the rose to Mark because she felt she understood what he was feeling more.

Two-Face Wes

Jillian and Wes are getting very close. She loved his song, and she told him she missed him while they were apart.

The other men aren’t so fond of Wes. They feel he is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and one of the men said Wes has said he has another girlfriend back home.

Tanner Tells

Jillian confronted Jake about his pulling back. He told her he was hurt by her comments about him needing to be himself. He said this is who he is, and she said she didn’t mean it that way.

Jake made a comment about “bad guys” in the house, and Jillian became worried. Tanner later decided he needed to tell Jillian the truth. Jillian was horrified to learn about other girlfriends and frustrated that he wouldn’t give names.

Rose Ceremony

Jillian canceled the cocktail party because of the rumors.

At the ceremony Chris forced the men to talk about it. The room was quiet until the men started to get upset. David was upset that someone would snitch on someone else, and he suggested the snitch be eliminated.

Jillian took a couple more minutes alone and finally eliminated David and Juan.
