Lil Rounds loses her way. Anoop has his best performance yet. Matt rocks the judges and makes the crowd swoon.

Tonight American Idol’s top eight performed songs from the year they were born. On Dancing with the Stars another star was eliminated and a legend performed.

American Idol, Performance Show

Danny Gokey – Stand by Me, Mickey Gilley – It was sultry, fun and his voice sounded amazing at the end. Randy said he loved his version even though he hated the arraignment. Kara thought he killed it at the end. Paula said his voice was brilliant.

Kris Allen – All She Wants to Do is Dance, Don Henley – Kris made his performance special this week by performing on a smaller stage immersed in the crowd. Kara thought Kris’s version lacked youth. Simon said it was boring and forgettable.

Lil Rounds – What’s Love Got to Do with It, Tina Turner – Lil’s performance was good but it didn’t really stand out. Paula thought she didn’t create her own version. Simon said he feels like he doesn’t know who she is any more. Randy and Kara once again said they don’t feel like she is listening to them.

Anoop Desai – True Colors, Cyndi Lauper – This was really beautiful. Kara loved the version and was happy Anoop controlled the song instead of the song controlling him. Paula thought it was magical. Simon didn’t think it was fantastic, but he liked it.

Scott MacIntyre – The Search is Over, Survivor – Kara said there were parts she liked and parts she didn’t like. Paula was happy to see him out of his comfort zone. Simon suggested he go back to the piano.

Allison Iraheta – I Can’t Make You Love Me, Bonnie Raitt – Allison shined as usual. She is definitely pulling away from the pack in a positive way. Paula said it was a perfect example of someone making the song their own. Simon loved the performance but doesn’t feel Allison is likeable. Randy said she was one of the best of the night.

Matt Giraud – Part-Time Lover, Stevie Wonder – Matt's performance was very sexy. Randy said he was vocally one of the best, Kara screamed fantastic and Simon said it was a million times better than last week.

Adam Lambert – Mad Love, Gary Jules – This performance was amazing, and Simon actually gave him a standing ovation, which is everything on this show.

Dancing with the Stars, 805A

The first two couples safe tonight were Shawn Johnson and Mark and Lil’ Kim and Derek. These results were not surprising since both teams scored relatively high last night.

Etta James performed her legendary hit “At Last.”

Gilles Marini and Cheryl and Steve-O and Lacey were also safe. Steve-O was sort of a shocking announcement, but the crowd seemed very happy they would be seeing him dance again.

Chuck Wicks and Julianne and Melissa Rycroft and Tony were safe.

Demi Lovato performed “La La Land,” a song the crowd was completely in to.

David Allan Grier and Kym and Lawrence Taylor and Edyta were in the bottom two, and David looked so angry about it.

David and Kym performed their paso doble, and the judges agreed that it was an improvement. Carrie Ann said their connection was there tonight. Score - 24

Lawrence and Edyta also performed their paso doble. Lawrence was still robotic, but the judges appeared to like the dance better. They talked a lot about how difficult the music was, and Bruno said he doesn’t feel they’ve seen the best of Lawrence. Score – 20

The votes were tallied, and David and Kym were eliminated.
