Dancing with the Stars Season Nine Week 2 RecapThe Second Dancing with the Stars Results Show Was September 29th
Celebrities Macy Gray and Ashley Hamilton were sent home during the first week of the latest season of Dancing with the Stars, and that brought us to week 2 of the show.
Dancing with the Stars season 9 week 2 got off to an interesting start on Monday, September 28th. He show was also able to move to a single elimination week after sending two of the couples home in the first week. After a three episode Dancing with the Stars season premiere week, it was nice to get back to just two episodes this week. Monday, September 28th was the performance show, followed on Tuesday, September 29th by the second Dancing with the Stars results show. Dancing with the Stars Week 2 Dances This week on Dancing with the Stars the contestants were given one of three dances to perform on the show. Those dances were the quick step, the jive, or the tango. Celebrities Aaron Carter, Natalie Coughlin, Mark Dacascos, Michael Irvin, and Kathy Ireland all performed the quick step. Celebrities Mya, Donny Osmond, Joanna Krupa, Melissa Joan Heart, and Louie Vito all performed the jive. Finally, celebrities Debi Mazar, Chuck Liddell, Kelly Osbourne, and Tom Delay all performed the tango. They are interesting dances, but some were performed much better than the others. Dancing with the Stars Week 2 Performances One of the biggest disappointments of the week has to be the way that the tango was danced. It seemed that the four pairs that had to perform the tango didn’t find their flow, and it turned into a less than stellar night of dancing. In fact, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that only three of the pairs were even better than average overall. There was a marked separation between those that performed really well and those who performed below average, and it as clear right away which dancers would be safe this week. The best performances of the night came from Aaron Carter with partner Karina Smirnoff, and Mya with partner Dmitry Chaplin. They both posted scores of 27 overall, with Carter performing the quick step and Mya performing the jive. Not too far behind them were Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson who put up a score of 25. It was a big drop-off after that to three pairs that scored 21 for the night. The worst performances of the night belonged to Kathy Ireland with partner Tony Dovolani and Tom Delay with partner Cherly Burke. They both scored only 18 in their dances, but with several other pairs scoring only slightly better at 19 points, it meant that the fans voting would definitely come in to play in deciding who would be going home this week on Dancing with the Stars. Dancing with the Stars Week 2 Results Show During the results show there were several new musical performances, including Disney star Selena Gomez and the USC Marching Band performing at different points during the night. Between those performances the hosts announced who was safe until they came down to the fateful final two pairs of the night. It was at that point that it was revealed that Kathy Ireland and partner Tony Dovolani were eliminated from the competition. It wasn’t that much of a surprise that Kathy Ireland was sent home after lows scores in both weeks that she was in the competition. Dancing with the Stars Next Episode Dancing with the Stars returns on October 5th with its next performance episode at 8:00 P.M. on ABC.
