Dancing With the Stars Season 9 Season PremiereThe Dancing With the Stars Season Premiere Aired September 21st
The newest season of ABC's hottest reality competition show opened its ninth campaign with an interesting look at the new dancers in a somewhat long opening number.
The ninth season of Dancing with the Stars got started on Monday night, as the first of three shows that will air in the debut week. The Dancing with the Stars season premiere showed off the new cast for the first time, and introduced fans to all of the new dancers that could possibly win the mirror ball trophy by the end of the season. The Dancing with the Stars Season 9 Cast
The Dancing with the Stars Season Premiere The first episode of the season was intended to bring a lot of excitement out for this season of Dancing with the Stars, but at the same time it also seemed to drag a bit with all of the commercial breaks that they packed into the opener. They do things like that to pump up the drama, but also to bring in all of the additional revenue that is associated with the opening week advertisers. Hopefully for the sake of fans and the show they have gotten that out of their system now. The format changed a bit to deal with the 16 contestants as well, with couples dances and then relay dances to start off this season. Dancing with the Stars Couples Dances During the couple’s portion of the competition, Aaron Carter and partner Karina Smirnoff led off the show, and also ended up with the best score of the night with a 22. This was a night for just the male celebrities in the couple’s dancing though, so we still have a night to see how the women can do this year. Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer also put up a good score of 21, so they will be another pair to pay attention as the weeks go by. It's still too early though, so even Donny Osmond who only put up a 20 in week 1 could still show strong later. Dancing with the Stars Relay Dances This additional new format consisted of two sets of four dancers taking the stage at the same time, with the judges rating them from best to worst. The men were again the performers, with Donny winning the first group to take home 10 points towards the overall scoring, and Aaron Carter winning the second group to also take home 10 points. As you may have guessed, to win the group you get 10 points, with eight going to second, six to third, and four for fourth. These points, along with the first judges scores, and then the fan voting will comprise the end score. Dancing with the Stars Current Scores Aaron Carter leads the way with a combined 32 points, followed by Donny Osmond with 30, Mark with 29, Louie with 27, and Chuck with 22. With the fan voting still to come, it still anyone's week, and the women haven't even taken the stage yet. The Next Episode of Dancing with the Stars Day 2 of Dancing with the Stars will air at 8:00 P.M. on ABC this Tuesday for the women's turn on the floor, followed by the first double elimination show to air at 8:00 P.M. on ABC this Wednesday.
