The former teen idols revisit important sites from their histories and share their stories. Producer Scott Baio gives the cast a speech about the need for fame.

Seven former teen idols moved into a house together to try and restart their ailing careers on Confessions of a Teen Idol. After last week’s focus group, several of their egos are still bruised. The third installment begins with a typical morning as the roommates joke around, until a call sheet arrives on their fax machine and begins the day’s events.

Hollywood Star Tour Takes the Idols Back in Time

Looking out their front window, the cast spots a double-decker Hollywood Tour Bus carrying producer Jason Hervey. The tour bus visited locations that all of the stars remembered from their careers, from the beaches of Baywatch to the home of Aaron Spelling. The idols told anecdotes about billboards they had on Sunset Boulevard and laughed about dating Playboy Playmates (until the tour guide asked if there was any overlap). At each stop, one of the cast members told a story about the rise and fall of their career.

Many of the cast members hadn’t talked about their stories before. The first stop was a moment in time in for Christopher Atkins, who lost the lead in the movie Footloose because of drugs and ego. When they made it to the MTV building, Eric Nies told the group about how the rising Jenny McCarthy seemed poised to take his job on The Grind, so he decided to never go back. Pulling up to a Catholic Church, Billy Hufsey told the rest of the cast that he would pray at this church every day when he was hungry and homeless.

Returning to the house, Jeremy Jackson was still upset over his memories of the past and the hardships that he put his mother through. However, Adrian Zmed comforted him and offered wisdom. After a joke made by Eric Nies, the cast decided to look at their rankings on IMDb Pro and rank which of them are the most famous.

A Commercial Audition Divides the House

Jason Hervey stopped by the house to let the idols know that a sponsor wants to shoot a commercial with one of the guys. Aussie Shampoo needs a new ad, and the winning guy will snag the paycheck. Though several major stars have used commercials to restart their careers, several cast members are doubtful about if they should audition. Adrian Zmed encouraged others to audition, telling a story about how a small, stupid role led to his role in T.J. Hooker because he impressed a producer.

The cast receives a script and has a blast on the day of the auditions. Ultimately, David Chokachi, Eric Nies, and Jamie Walters all decided not to audition for the commercial. Producer Scott Baio was frustrated with the egos of these stars, who were passing up on an opportunity to showcase their skill, even if it was in a small venue. Billy Hufsey won the role for his over the top performance and good attitude.

Scott Baio Steps in on Group Therapy

After witnessing the commercials, Scott Baio asked celebrity therapist Cooper Lawrence to be extra tough on the guys. However, when Jeremy Jackson pushed the guys to be quiet and listen to Cooper, the rest of the idol pushed back and told Jeremy that they were worried he would start doing drugs again. Shocked at this confrontation, he left the room. Christopher Atkins followed and calmed him down.

At this point, Scott stepped in and asked Cooper to give them a few minutes. As a fellow teen idol, he could relate to the men and tried to convince them that fame was not a dirty word. While all seven of them claimed to want to rejuvenate their careers and get great roles, the idea of being famous made several of them balk. They seemed to view it in the context of how their careers end. Instead, Scott tried to show them that fame was the key to gaining better roles and more choices in their careers.
