Scott Baio Helps 7 Former Stars Restart Lost Careers

Fame is fleeting and these teen idols want Scott Baio and Jason Hervey to help them get back in the spotlight. See what happens as they move into the house.

In the tradition of The Surreal Life and Celebrity Rehab, VH1 has gathered together fallen stars for a new reality show, Confessions of a Teen Idol. The series runs for eight episodes and stars Christopher Atkins (The Blue Lagoon), David Chokachi (Baywatch), Billy Hufsey (Fame), Jeremy Jackson (Baywatch), Eric Nies (The Real World: New York), Jamie Walters (Beverly Hills 90210) and Adrian Zmed (T.J. Hooker). Scott Baio and Jason Hervey produce the show and help the celebrities find their fame again, alone with a celebrity therapist and a team of Hollywood experts.

The Idols Move In

Jeremy Jackson is the first celebrity to arrive and browses the photos of the other housemates in their best known work. As each of the other cast members arrives, a montage of their career is aired as they narrate. Chris Atkins reflects on the irony of having starred in The Blue Lagoon but now building lagoons and pools. David Chokachi and Jackson hug and catch up since the two of them worked together on Baywatch.

While some of the celebrities are reserved, Eric Nies has no problem sharing his opinions immediately. Nies eats a vegan, raw food diet and works as a life coach. He shares his thoughts on life, chakras, and life energy with the other guys while VH1 displayed a hilarious message on screen reading "LEGAL DISCLAIMER: The claims and opinions of Eric Nies are not shared by VH1, its parent companies or subsidiaries now or ever.”

First Therapy Session

The celebrities receive their first call sheet detailing somewhere that they have to go. All it states is that they will have a meeting behind the black doors in an hour. When they arrive behind the doors, they discover therapist to the stars, Cooper Lawrence. Lawrence has a master’s degree in behavioral psychology and is an expert on the effects of celebrity. Several of the housemates, notably Eric Nies and Adrian Zmed, question Lawrence’s credentials.

However, the guys all settle down and each of them tells the story of how they fell from fame. Jamie Walters reflects on wondering what would have happened if he had not bailed out of his career when it hit a slow point. Jeremy Jackson has a typical story of a child star, leading him to an arrest on drug charges. Eric Nies shares that he had a manager who ruined his relationship with MTV and manipulated him. The idols talk about their passion and desire to find fame again.

Night on the Town

The next call sheet that the housemates receive tells them that they will be going out to a red carpet event that evening. They flock to get ready to see the fans who made them stars and get in a limo. When they arrive at the club, a crowd awaits them and they have their pictures taken. Entering the backstage area, the guys can hear a crowd roaring with each name announced.

However, when the curtains part the club is empty except for Scott Baio and Jason Hervey. The cast laughs at seeing the two producers, who give them a great speech about fame and the purpose of the show. They focus on the fact that it will not be an easy process and they will have to look inside themselves to find out what happened to their stardom.

Outrage and Bonding

As the celebrities get closer to their house, David Chokachi grows angrier and angrier. This former Baywatch hunk resisted coming on Confessions of a Teen Idol several times because he did not want to look like a food on television. He feels that the stunt at the club was an insult, and packs his bags and leaves.

Eric Nies and Jamie Walters chase him down as Adrian Zmed calls Jason Hervey to update him on the situation. Chokachi agrees to stay and confront Hervey with the housemates. While the idols express their anger at the situation, Hervey tries to convey to them that he and Scott Baio were trying to prove a point and ignite their desire for fame. Though neither side seemed to convince the other of their point, the celebrities acknowledged that the whole day had bonded them together as a team.

Stay tuned for next week’s episode of Confessions of a Teen Idol, where the idols will face the criticism of their public. New episodes of this Celebreality program air Sundays on VH1. Visit the Confessions of a Teen Idol Page for episode summaries, cast profiles, and more.
