The Biggest Loser cast is challenged this week to do the unthinkable: conquer the Week Two Curse. Can they do it and save someone from elimination?

Week two of the Biggest Loser season 8 starts off with a challenge by Alison Sweeney. After voting off Alexandra last week, the contestants do not want to have to vote anyone off this week. Allison has offered them the opportunity for everyone to stay at the Biggest Loser Ranch without the possibility of getting eliminated this week. All they have to do is lose 150 pounds as a group. In the notorious week two of seasons past, this is a huge challenge. In past seasons, players who lost large amounts of weight the week before tend to lose only a few pounds, or even gain weight, during week 2.

Biggest Loser Weight Loss Plan

Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper gives Dina a pep talk after she stresses out. She doesn't want to be the one who messes up. He tells her to stick to the plan and she will be fine. The Biggest Loser diet plan for women is revealed to be 1200 calories a day and burning 6000 calories through exercise, which is tracked by the BodyBugg system.

Tracey and CoachMo

Purple team member Coach Mo goes to the hospital to check on Tracey. She is doing well and is almost ready to leave the hospital at that point. She comes back to the ranch the next day to a warm welcome from the other players.

Jillian’s Trainer Tips

Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels suggests keeping a food journal to log all food and drinks taken in during the day. Doing this has been shown to increase weight loss.

Food Challenge

Curtis Stone visited the contestants for a challenge on nutrition and cooking. They were given the opportunity to win a 15 pound advantage at the weigh-in if they get 5 out of 8 questions from Curtis correct. He shared the following tips:

  • Portion sizes for meat should be between 3-4 ounces
  • Cooking without oil is easy: bake, poach or steam to reduce fat
  • Eating out – salads are not always a healthy choice as dressings and toppings add calories
  • Starch – substitute vegetables for pasta to save calories
  • Protein – have protein snacks throughout the day to feel full longer

The contestants were successful in answering the questions and were rewarded with a 15 pound advantage.

Team Challenge

The team challenge was also a success, with the Biggest Loser contestants having to work together to cross a balance beam over water. They were able to win the challenge to remove another 20 pounds from their 150 pound goal, and also won phone calls home. With these weight advantages they have earned, the teams now have to lose a total of 115 pounds to have everyone remain on campus.

The Final Weigh-In

Contestants are still weighing in as teams, with the challenge this week of meeting a team goal of 115 pounds lost so that no one will have to leave the Biggest Loser campus.
