The summer of 2007 is guaranteed to be a hot one as the new cast of Big Brother 8 (BB8) was revealed on this season's first episode.
This year the house is most likely the most interesting one yet with its Alice in Wonderland themed rooms. In this first episode viewers are first introduced to the 11 HouseGuests: Carole, Joe, Mike, Amber, Nick, Danielle and Jameka. Although they’re all stoked to be in the BB8 house, some are less than impressed when they see where they’re supposed to sleep.
Jen scoffs at being stuck in a tiny cot (she’s used to a king sized bed) and is further miffed when the men of the house don’t immediately fall over themselves to get her attention.
After the awkward introductions the HouseGuests finally start to dish out information about them. Amber is a cocktail waitress from Las Vegas, Carole, a ditzy college student and Danielle is also a cocktail waitress from Orange County. Jen is next shocking everyone when she reveals she’s a nanny while Kail indulges in a little white lie, telling the crowd that she in real estate . . . even though she is really a multi-business owner and practically runs her small town.
On to the men!
Viewers would be pleased to see that most of the guys on the show are easy on the eyes! Eric (America’s Player) is a marketing assistant from New York and Joe not only reveals that he is a receptionist for a children’s hair salon, but tells the group that he’s gay. While most of the HouseGuests don’t care, Kail reveals in the diary room that she would flip if her children confessed they were gay.
Next up comes Nick, a former football player, Zach, a graphic designer (and Howie look alike) and Jameka, a school counsellor from Maryland.
Lies, Deceit and Drama
Not wanting to bore viewers to death, host Julie Chan reveals a surprise twist that includes three additional HouseGuests who are hidden in the house!
After loads of discussion (and a HOH competition where Kail was crowned the winner) the three mystery HouseGuests are revealed.
Dustin, a show salesman from Chicago quickly learns his former flame Joe will accompany his stay in the house.
Jessica, a college student, is disgusted to see her former best friends from junior high, Carole. Although it is unclear why the friendship broke up, we do learn that Carole not only “talk allot of smack,” but also still owes Jessica $5.00 from high school!
The most drama filled and gut wrenching surprise guest is Dick. . . Danielle’s father! Why the drama? Because, Danielle and her father have not spoken for over 2 years.
While the HouseGuests are digesting these twists and turns, Julie reveals another shocker. This season, one HouseGuest will be named American’s Player and will have to play by American’s rules. Eric is the lucky culprit and is totally pumped to start his first challenge.
