Big Brother Episode 11 Recap from August 2nd Telecast

Aug 3, 2009 Ryan Gamble

The continuation of the July 30th episode took place on the Big Brother episode 11 telecast on August 2nd, showing the new HOH and nomination ceremony.

After the eviction ceremony in episode 10 of Big Brother 11, the show went to a head of household competition to decide who would be in charge of the house next. In the head of household competition, all of the houseguests had to get up on a rope that had a board on the end of it. Each houseguest had their own rope and board, and it was attached to an apparatus that would spin them around until all but one person fell off.

During the head of household competition, they threw rain at the contestants over and over again, and even had a device to try and knock them off as they would spin around the apparatus. It was a difficult head of household competition to say the least.

Big Brother Head of Household Competition Part 2

Jessie couldn’t compete so he was out before the competition even started. As it continued, and the spinning velocity seemed to increase, Kevin was the first one to fall after 21 minutes has elapsed. The next person to fall was Lydia after 25 minutes, Each person that fell were also able to pick a mystery box containing good or bad items. Kevin chose first and got $5000 from his box. Lydia chose second, and got a 42 inch plasma television. Ronnie went down at the 46 minute mark, with Natalie soon after at the 49 minute mark. Ronnie’s box was empty, and Natalie’s box was empty as well.

As the head of household competition continued, Jordan fell next, and got the last box, which contained a “have” card, but had to choose the three houseguests that would be “have-nots”. Chima fell after 2 hours and 22 minutes up, Michele fell as the clock was passing three hours. That left Jeff and Russell to duel it out for the head of household, and at about the three hour and 30 minute mark, they agreed to a deal where Russell would not put up Jeff and Jordan. Thus Russell won the head of household by Jeff dropping out.

The Have and Have Not Selection; CBS Edits Footage To Show Different Results

Jordan had to decide which people would go into the have not group for the week. She drew them out of a hat, and selected Natalie, Kevin, and Jessie. However, Big Brother edited the footage to show that was who was drawn. Jeff was actually drawn to be part of the have-nots, but since he was still in the head of household competition when Jordan had drawn the names, everyone agreed to re-draw. This was the point Jessie was drawn as the replacement name, and he showed some animosity for being that selection. It’s a bit unclear why CBS edited that out of the show when it was finally revealed to America.

Big Brother Mystery Power

After Russell won the head of household, the discussion became more about who would attain the mystery power rather than what had taken place. With the new Big Brother mystery power, America first selects who gets it through a vote at CBS.com, and then that players has two weeks to change the nominations and place the person of their choice in one or both spots. That mystery power is to remain a secret, and probably only the selected person and America will know who has been chosen. The mystery power is being called the power of coup d’etat.

America’s Vote For Have-Not Foods

America had the chance to give the have-nots a couple of food items, and over the past week voted for them to have squid and squash added to their diet of only slop.

Big Brother 11 Nomination Ceremony

Russell was put in the position of choosing two people to be nominated for eviction at the eviction ceremony on Thursday, and this was the episode where his nominations for eviction were revealed. Russell chose Ronnie and Lydia to be nominated for eviction, and they will now have the chance to save themselves at the power of veto competition to be aired on Tuesday.

Next Episode of Big Brother 11

The next episode of Big Brother 11 will take place on Tuesday, August 4th, where viewers will get to see the power of veto competition and the power of veto ceremony. That will lead up to the Big Brother 11 eviction ceremony on Thursday, August 6th.
