On the June 22, 2009 episode of The Bachelorette, Week 6 (Season 5), Jillian took the men on a train ride through western Canada.
Robby Rides the Rails
Jillian was missing Ed so she felt it was important her first date was with someone who could cheer her up – Robby.
Robby was nervous at first, but as the date progressed Robby was feeling very confident about receiving a rose. Jillian said Robby makes her feel young.
At dinner Jillian learned that Robby’s family feels he is ready for this kind of commitment, but she wasn’t sure if he was ready to start a family. Robby said he is just looking for someone to be with. Jillian is worried Robby isn’t ready to take care of her and a family, and she was concerned that he didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life.
Jillian told Robby she couldn’t give him the rose because she didn’t believe he was ready for what she was looking for.
The men took seeing Robby’s departure very hard. Michael broke in to tears, and Wes admitted that he does have a hidden agenda – his music career. In his interview Wes said the show can only help his fame.
“I will always have Jillian wrapped around my finger,” Wes said.
Snowshoes in the Mountain
Kiptyn, Jesse, Wes, Michael, Jake and Tanner P. went snowshoeing with Jillian. The men thought Jillian looked adorable in her snow gear. The group threw snowballs and played hide and seek.
Jake and Jillian had a romantic moment cuddling in the snow, and privately Jake said he believes he feels comfortable around Jillian because she reminds him of his mom. Just as Jake was about to tell Jillian how he really feels the other men interrupted.
Kiptyn and Jillian shared a kiss, and she said she would’ve loved to sit and talk with him all night.
Michael brought up a conversation about what Jillian wears to bed. Tanner decided to step up his shyness and show Jillian the underwear he wears to bed. Jillian was shocked!
During Tanner P.’s private time Tanner obsessed over Jillian’s feet and how he doesn’t feel they have as much of a connection.
Jillian felt a huge spark with Jesse on the date, but Jillian felt she needed a sign to keep Michael.
Kiptyn was offered the rose and accepted it.
Truth Be Told
Tanner P. told the men on the group date he told Jillian someone had a girlfriend. He said he wasn’t trying to throw anyone under the bus but he needed to step up his game. Wes immediately got defensive, which concerned some of the men.
Wes admitted he “got what he wanted” out of the show already and if didn’t get the girl it wouldn’t matter. Tanner looked horrified, Jake was ready to tell and Jesse wanted to stay out of it.
Jake finally told Jillian he is crazy about her, and she was very happy to hear it.
Reid on the Slopes
Jillian taught Reid how to snowboard. Jillian was impressed with Reid’s openness to new things.
During drinks Jillian learned what Reid is looking for. Jillian felt wonderful around Reid, and the two ended up having fondue in Jillian’s hotel room. Reid showed Jillian his neurotic side, but Jillian was happy to see his insecurity.
Reid was offered the rose and accepted it.
Rose Ceremony
Before elimination Jillian took Michael to speak privately. Jillian said she was concerned about his age, but he convinced her to keep him.
She sent home Tanner P. and Jake.
