Contestants become muses for designers and have a photo shoot in a model wasteland. One girl is eliminated, and the remaining six head to China.
Heather had become close to Sarah and is saddened that she was voted off last week. The other girls try to comfort Heather, but she seems to prefer being alone and wallowing in her negative feelings. Models Become MusesThe models arrive at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and are met there by Benny Ninja, who tells them of their latest challenge: becoming muses to designers. The girls are to inspire fashion design students into creating personalized dresses especially for them. They’ll be judged on how well they perform on the runway and talk about how they inspired the designs. The winner will appear in a special photo shoot for Seventeen Magazine, where she will model holiday jewelry. Bianca hated the design of her dress. Despite that, she was able to come out strong on the runway. Heather, on the other hand, fumbled with her words and had an embarrassing showing. Ambreal skipped, rather than strutted, out on the runway and came across a little too cheesy. Jenah felt confident in her rocker-inspired outfit, but then rolled her eyes at Saliesha’s performance later. Chantal described her outfit as “ethereal” and yet stomped out on the runway with an angry look on her face. Lisa, like Heather, fumbled with her lines and appeared awkward. Saliesha Wins the ChallengeDespite Jenah’s sniggering, Saliesha won the challenge. She picked Bianca and Lisa to accompany her on the photo shoot. The three girls enjoyed their fun and pressure-free afternoon posing for Seventeen Magazine. Hours after the challenge, Heather continued to lament about her performance. She was in a foul mood, and took it out on the other girls in the house. This prompted Bianca to ask, “Did you think you’d be perfect at everything?” Model WastelandThe models get on the “green machine” and drive for hours to their photo shoot. They arrive in the middle of the desert and are met by Jay Manuel, who tells them they’ll be doing a “model wasteland” shoot. They’ll be wearing high fashion dresses while they pose with a burning car. They will really need to work their emotions in order to sell the image. Bianca does extremely well showing desperation but still selling the dress. Heather remained upset by her performance in the challenge earlier and carries the negativity to the photo shoot. She fails to find the right emotion and poses poorly. Chantal was given an awkward dress to model, but used her frustration to get into the emotion she needed to perform well. Saliesha struggled at first, but then got into the vibe of the shoot. Jenah showed great body language and once again did well. Five Models Head to ChinaAmbreal got frustrated and covered up her dress in the shoot. Hiding the product is a big model no-no, and given her performance the last several weeks, is enough to send her home. The remaining six models will head to China next week to continue the competition. The following girls are still in the running to be America’s Next Top Model. In order:
