Ten contestants are reduced to nine as the girls learn how to pose while in motion.
Now down to ten girls after last week’s elimination, Janet begins by begging the others to clean up their messes. She finally composes a list of household tasks for each girl to perform. Meanwhile, Heather, in a rare catty mood, starts critiquing all the other girls on their bodies and ability to pose.
Benny Ninja Teaches Posing While in Motion
Benny Ninja joins the girls once again to teach them posing techniques. (He previously worked with them in Week 2 for the Old Navy Model Basics Challenge.) Ninja meets them at a gym to illustrate posing while in motion. The ten girls take turns jumping on a trampoline while giving a pose at the very top of their jump. This in preparation for their next challenge: posing in air, while on ice.
Models on Ice
Ninja takes them to a skating ring, and as the girls shiver from the cold air, explains that they’ll be practicing their poses with champion skater Lloyd Eisler. Lloyd will lift them into the air while they show a particular emotion: anger, sorrow, or joy. Many of the girls are nervous about pulling this off, but Eisler works with them on the ground first, practicing flips and movement. Ninja will judge them on their performance along with Ann Shoket, Editor for Seventeen Magazine. Making a special appearance as guest judge is ANTM Cycle 6 winner Danielle Evans.
Heather struggles once again in showing any emotion and instead just looks stiff and uncomfortable. Ebony performs the emotion “sorrow” with an exaggerated sad face, causing laughter instead. Ambreal performs joy with an almost cartoon-like face, but somehow believes she did very well. Lisa outperforms them all with a wonderfully sad look of sorrow, and easily wins the challenge. Her prize is a photo shoot with Evans for Seventeen Magazine. As an added bonus, she is able to choose two friends to go with her. Lisa picks Janet and Ebony, causing Jenah and Bianca to act jealous and catty.
Gargoyle Poses
Jay Manuel meets the girls at the top of the Omni Hotel for their photo shoot. They are to pose as gargoyles, high on a platform atop the hotel. Manuel assures the girls the platform is very strong, so they should really work their poses. Heather does a great job, although once again fails to look directly at the camera. Saliesha redeems herself from last week’s poor shot while Ambreal focuses too much on her fear of heights and maintains the same look in each picture.
Janet, meanwhile, focused too much on the fact that her underwear was visible in the shot, and failed to produce a quality picture. This, combined with her slow beginning, was enough to send her home.
The following girls will go through to the next round, and are still in the running to be America’s Next Top Model. In order:
