Tyra Banks photographs the four remaining contestants. One girl is sent home.

Twiggy and Miss J welcome Bianca, Chantal, Saliesha, and Jenah to Beijing. They inform the girls that Chinese culture has had quite an impact on the fashion world. To help illustrate this point, they recite a Chinese fable called, “The Four Beauties.” As they’re told the tale, Chinese women appear on stage in full costume to give life to the story.

Tyra Welcomes the Girls to Beijing

After the fable is read, the girls are shown their new house in Beijing. The first thing they notice upon entering are four red gift boxes from Tyra Banks. In each box is one of the costumes from “The Four Beauties” performance earlier. The girls must each wear their respective costume as part of the challenge the next day.

Model Challenge

Miss J and Twiggy meet the girls once again to give them more details on what their first challenge will entail. They are each given the Chinese equivalent of $200 to update their costumes so they look like the current style of fashion. Each girl takes off into a local mall where they purchase shoes, handbags, and other accessories.

The girls then model their outfits for Twiggy, Miss J, and Ann Shoket (from Seventeen Magazine). The winner of the challenge will get to choose a friend and both girls will receive a Chinese couture dress made just for her. Jenah is the winner and chooses Chantal as her friend. As an added bonus, Miss J gave Jenah individual runway tips specific to her – something no other model has received on ANTM.

Jay Manuel meets the girls at the Great Wall of China to tell them about their photo shoot. They’ll be dressed up as warriors, and have to show beauty and strength in their picture. Jay reveals that their photographer is none other than Tyra Banks. This causes added excitement and tension as the girls realize they will once again have to impress one of the ANTM judges.

Tyra Gives Instruction

Tyra coaches each of the girls as she snaps their picture. Chantal photographs well and seems to understand the composition of the picture. Bianca is stiff and awkwardly moves from pose to pose. At one point Tyra has to stop snapping shots and demonstrate how she should stand. Jenah looks distracted, and gets emotional as she tells Tyra she isn’t sure “who she is.” Saliesha needs very little instruction, and comes up with some amazing poses. At one point she even jumps in the air, and it is this shot selected for review at the panel.

Standing Out in a Group Shot

Tyra also takes a group shot of the girls, in part to see which one of them would stand out when placed next to the others. The judges decide Chantal stood out the best, and she is the first chosen to continue on to the finals. Bianca is told that she hasn’t progressed far enough at this point in the competition and was sent home. However, Tyra encouraged her to maintain her dream of becoming a model.

The following girls will be in the finals next week, and are still in the running to be America’s Next Top Model. In order:
