All hell breaks loose when Claire takes a stand against Dominique’s alarm clock. Claire tells Dominique that she is sick of her alarm going off long before any of them have to wake up. Dominique’s defense is that it’s a new alarm clock and she isn’t entirely clear on how to use it. Lauren and Whitney join Claire in her argument and Dominique feels like everyone is ganging up on her and are just jealous because she is doing so well in the competition.
The girls meet Tyra in a studio and are asked to dress into long, red spandex pants, a red t-shirt and black shoes. Tyra gives the girls a lesson on how to look fierce during their runway walk and how to work the three second pose at the end. She then reveals a big modeling secret: pose with pain. She tells the ladies that if they are ever having problems with their poses, to think pain. Tyra proposes a pain pose-off.
Tyra feels that Anya looks fierce, that Whitney looks fantastic and that Dominique looks very high fashion. She informs the girls that the pose-off was actually a secret challenge and that Anya wins a one-on-one photoshoot with Nigel Barker.
Nigel photographs Anya nude, while posing on a bed, but her makes sure that her intimate parts are covered by a white bed sheet.
Back at the apartment, Claire, Whitney and Lauren decide to rehash the alarm clock argument near where Dominique is trying to sleep. This prompts yet another exchange of words between the four girls.
Williamsburg, Brooklyn (McCarren Park Pool) is the setting for this week’s photoshoot. World famous photographer, Russell James, is taking the girl’s pictures as they embody a specific genre of music.
Fatima – Metal
Katarzyna – Emo
Lauren – Pop
Claire – Country
Dominique – Folk
Anya – Punk
Stacy-Ann – House
Aimee – R&B
Whitney – Grunge
Jay thinks that Fatima really looks the part but poses too much, while he feels that Claire comes off couture rather than country. He loves Whitney and Dominique’s poses, but is disappointed with Aimee’s portrayal of R&B.
The judges are unanimous when it comes to Whitney’s photo and say that it is the best of the group. They all feel that she really embraced the grunge genre. Tyra tells Katarzyna that her photo is her best one to date and that the short wig she wore during the shoot has inspired a new hairstyle for her. Paulina tells Aimee that there is no feeling behind her photo and Tyra tells Claire that this is her worst photo ever. Nigel doesn’t think that Claire’s pose is soft enough.
Aimee and Claire wind up in the bottom two this week. Tyra tells Aimee that she had one of the easiest genres, but didn't produce a convincing enough photo and tells Claire that she looks too comical in her shot. In the end, Aimee is the one to leave the competition.
