The girls arrive at Elite Model Management, where Karen Lee, director of scouting for Elite North America, greets them and discusses the importance of a good first impression. The girls are then split into two teams of four and each team is given a Sprint Navigational cell phone to assist them in finding their way along the streets of New York City. Any form of transportation, other than walking, is strictly prohibited for this challenge.
Team 2 arrives at Shoshanna, where designer Shoshanna Gruss critiques the girls on personality, runway walk and overall look. She feels that Lauren is very pretty, but seems uncomfortable and that Fatima is stunning.
Team 1 heads to Pamella Roland and is greeted by president and designer, Pamella DeVos. The four girls change into the outfits provided and show Pamella what they have to offer. Pamella likes Stacy-Ann and says that her walk and personality are great, while Claire had a great walk, but didn’t have the right look for her shows. Whitney faces adversity and becomes frustrated when Pamella tells her that she wouldn’t book a size 10 for her runway shows, which Dominique takes delight in hearing.
At Shoshanna, Team 1 seems to leave a better impression that Team 2 had left. The designer says that Whitney is beautiful and would makes a great full-figure model and is impressed by Stacy-Ann. Team 2 doesn’t make out very well at Pamella Rolland, as the designer feels that Fatima is too thin, that Anya lacks confidence and Lauren’s runway walk drags the team down.
The Go-See challenge ends with Stacey Bendet, designer of Alice and Olivia. Stacey says that Dominique doesn’t have a true model look and that Lauren tends to walk like a horse, while she feels that Stacy-Ann has good energy and Katarzyna is "cute as a button."
This week’s photoshoot is at Fuerza Bruta, a show where the performers use their bodies to evoke emotional response from the audience. The girls must lay face down on a clear Mylar-type surface that’s covered with water and flail about, posing their bodies in different shapes, while having their photos taken from underneath them. The preparation doesn’t involve much as Jay Manuel wants the girls to look "raw", meaning no make-up and no professional hairstyles. Katarzyna does however, receive the shorter hairstyle that Tyra promised her last week.
Claire decides that she’s going to dive into the water and slams her face off the surface and needs to sit out for a few moments. Jay says that Dominique looks like a ballerina in the water and that Katarzyna looks graceful, while Claire doesn’t have enough movement and Lauren’s awkwardness is really becoming more obvious.
Tyra feels that Claire only knows how to portray one look, while Whitney’s photo reel blew her away. The judges agree with Jay regarding Lauren’s awkwardness and feel that Fatima has the best picture in the bunch.
After deliberation, one by one, the girls are called by Tyra until Claire and Lauren are the last two model hopefuls left standing. Tyra says that Claire isn’t diverse enough and that Lauren needs to loosen up. Claire’s non-chameleon-like poses send her packing.
