America's Next Top Model, Cycle 12 - Episode TwoFun and Games - The Girls Move into their Upper East Side Apartment
Thirteen aspiring models move to New York City to compete in this season of ANTM. This episode features their first runway show and first photo shoot.
After last episode’s semifinal round, thirteen lucky girls are moving to New York City to try and win Cycle 12 of America’s Next Top Model. Many of the girls are from smaller towns and are in awe of being in America’s fashion capital and in the competition. ANTM Contestants Arrive in New York CityThe thirteen girls arrive in New York and head to the Empire State building to get a better view. At the top of the building, judges Nigel Barker and Paulina Porizkova meet them and welcome them to New York City. They present the girls with the key to their new home. Since Celia has the key in her hand, she wins the right to choose the first bed. This does not sit well with Sandra, who had already placed her bag on the bed Celia wants. London volunteers to sleep on the floor, knowing that she will have a bed soon. The black and white apartment features a runway and photographs of Tyra Banks and the past winners of America’s Next Top Model. First Runway Show for Abaeté The girls receive their first Tyra Mail, stating “Get ready to bridge the gap between good and bad.” They head to the 59th Street Bridge and meet Mr. Jay and Miss J outside Guastavino’s, where a Laura Poretzky fashion show will be held that night. The girls will be featured in the show and portraying either a naughty or nice walk. Some of the girls are excited while others, like Allison, are extremely nervous. Tahlia found herself much more covered up than the rest of the girls, which made her focus on her scars. Miss J opens the runway show, while Mr. Jay, Paulina, and Nigel look on. As the show stars, Isabella notices that there are strobe lights on the runway. She lives with epilepsy, which can be affected by strobes. Despite the added challenge, she puts on a smile and walks. Sandra stood out in the show, because she was so cocky before the show but only walked halfway down the runway and had poor poses. A Tyra Mail and a Favorite Childhood Games Photo ShootThe second Tyra Mail arrives for the girls, telling them “Eenie meenie miney mo, make it fierce from head to toe.” Their next challenge is a photo shoot with photographer Fadil Berisha. The girls are each assigned a childhood game that they will be portrayed, because of Tyra’s belief that girls are growing up too fast. They have to bring out innocence and joy in their photos. Each photo will also have three extras who are portraying bad girls. The makeup is bright and trendy. Fo is excited to be assigned ring around the rosy, because she is a preschool teacher. Despite the rain, most of the girls have fun with their shoots. Tahlia seems to still be nervous from her experience at the fashion show. That night, the girls sit around and discuss the impending elimination. Facing the Judges' PanelThe girls meet with Tyra, Nigel, Paulina, and Miss J. Tyra tells the girls about the prizes, including a Cover Girl contract and representation from Elite Model Management. Each of them receives critiques on their photo, runway walk, and appearance in panel. After deliberation, the judges announce that Allison has the best photo of the week, followed by Fo, Teyona, London, and Celia. Isabella and Sandra fall in the bottom two. Though Sandra did not impress the judges with her photo or runway walk, the judges decided that she had more potential and Isabella was sent home.
