Here’s Your Test - A Fight Starts at the ANTM New York Apartment

At the end of last week’s episode of CW’s reality hit America’s Next Top Model, Celia informed the judges that Tahlia no longer wanted to be in the competition. This angered host Tyra Banks as well as half of the girls remaining in the house. When the girls got back home, a war erupted with Tahlia, Teyona, Aminat, and Sandra arguing with Celia, Natalie, and Allison. Aminant got into Natalie’s face and she barely reacted except to encourage it to continue.
Recreating Tyra Bank’s Facial Expressions
A Tyra Mail arrives at the house, telling the girls that she doesn’t want to see any more blank faces in photographs. The models think that this might be an acting challenge. They meet Mr. Jay Manuel who lets them know that becoming an icon is all about the face. Inside are a series of mirrors and they are challenged to create different expressions in their faces. Beth Stern, a model and the wife of Howard Stern, helps judge the girls.
After the practice session, the test is administered. Five photographs of Tyra have been blown up to life size. The face has been cut out of each image. The girls must try to create the right facial expression for the photograph, based on the movement and body language in the photo. Each model chooses two cutouts to try. Natalie wins the challenge and gets fifty percent more frames than the other girls.
Color and Beauty Photo Shoot
The next Tyra Mail announces that the girls are looking a little pale and need some color. They suspect that body paint will be involved in the photo shoot. Tahlia decides to act more maturely and sit down with Celia to discuss what happens. Tahlia explains how embarrassed she felt and Celia apologized for making her feel bad.
They arrive at the photo shoot and discover that they will be doing beauty shots. A beauty shoot is one of the most difficult photo shoots on America’s Next Top Model because it is all about the facial expression. Each model is assigned a different color that they will be painted and embody in the shoot. Celia worries about impressing Mr. Jay with her photo shoot because she feels that she might be going home after last week’s drama.
ANTM Judge’s Panel and Elimination
Before seeing the judges, Celia prepares her outfit. Though she is always fashionable at panel, she wants to make sure she has something special this week. The nine remaining models face Tyra, Nigel Barker, J. Alexander, Paulina Porizkova, and guest judge Keith Major, who was the photographer this week.
Tahlia, Celia, Fo and Teyona all gave impressive photographs. Natalie had trouble with her face looking too round. London and Allison both gave the same look as the previous week’s shoot. Sandra had a face-on photograph chosen because Nigel was complaining about only seeing profile shots. Fo is awarded the best photo of the week for her fiery portrayal of the color red. She is followed by Teyona, Tahlia, Aminat, Allison, Natalie, and London. Celia and Sandra are left in the bottom two. Celia is criticized for her behavior while Tyra expresses that Sandra can’t seem to give a face-on shot. Celia’s photograph is revealed and Sandra is sent home.
