Each season of America's Next Top Model features makeovers that are sure to upset some of the girls. Tonight the girls face their first photo shoot with Nigel Barker.

After last week’s elimination on America’s Next Top Model, the girls return to their New York City apartment. Allison is excited that her photograph is displayed in their home as digital art, while Fo is disappointed that she just missed winning. Meanwhile, Aminat is angry that Isabella went home while Sandra stayed, because she views Isabella as the better person.

ANTM Makeovers with Miss J and Mr. Jay

Before the models head to bed, a Tyra Mail arrives. It says, “Whether it’s on the streets or the sidewalk, you’ll be turning heads.” The next morning, a pink plaid limousine picks the girls up and takes them to Bergdorf Goodman, where the John Barrett salon is housed. The two Jays are waiting there with files describing the makeovers each model is going to get. However, the girls will not know what their cut and color will be until they are done.

Every season of America’s Next Top Model has a few girls who get especially upset. Though Fo didn’t cry when they cut her hair, she became more upset as she saw the other girls. Celia cried but she didn’t complain, and ended up feeling liberated. As the Jays and John Barrett approach Natalie, she freaked out, telling them that she can’t get a short cut. John storms away, saying “I can’t do this.” However, the joke is on Natalie -- Tyra doesn’t want to change her hair and they were teaching the girls a lesson.

Wal-Mart and Cover Girl Make-Up Challenge

The next Tyra Mail tells the girls, “Not seeing eye to eye? Tomorrow it’s time to make-up.” Make-up artist Sutan and Cover Girl representative Elyssa Starkman meet the models for their challenge. The girls will be doing a challenge with Cover Girl cosmetics, sponsored by Wal-Mart. Since there are no Wal-Mart’s in New York City, they set up a cosmetics aisle for them. They split into four teams, and each one finds a woman on the street that embodies Cover Girl. The team will then have to explain the products and be a spokesperson for the product. Sandra, Aminat, and Celia win the challenge and a Cover Girl photo shoot.

Judge Nigel Barker Photographs the Models

The third Tyra Mail arrives at the New York apartment, asking “How many models does it take to screw in a light bulb? I guess we’ll find out tomorrow.” The note is alluding to a photo shoot with judge Nigel Barker, in which the models will be responsible for lighting themselves with two hand-held lights. The hair and make-up are rock and roll themed. Each photo will also have three of the other girls participating as extras.

One of the most common things that Tyra and Nigel tell the new models is to “Find the light.” This shoot intends to help the girls understand that. Jessica was one of the first disappointments. While Aminat was featured, Celia upstaged her as an extra. Many of the girls were thinking about doing well, not being in the bottom two, or trying not to fall. Those things read on their face instead of embodying a fierce character. Fo continued to focus on her makeover and actually cried on set about her hair.

Panel and Elimination

The last Tyra Mail announces that judging will be the next day. The girls arrive and face Tyra Banks, Paulina Porizkova, Miss J. Alexander, and guest judge Nole Marin, who was a regular judge for two seasons. They question if Fo should be a model because she cried on set. Several of the girls have a problem bringing tension and energy to the shoot.

After deliberation, Tyra calls the models back. Teyona wins the photo shoot, followed by Celia, Allison, Natalie, and London. Jessica and Fo are the bottom two. The judges believe that Fo may not be able to handle being a blank canvas, while they think Jessica is stuck in her role as the prettiest girl in school. Ultimately, Fo gets a photograph and Jessica is eliminated. She is stunned by the decision because she believes she is prettier than the remaining girls. However, modeling is not about being pretty but about creating a photograph.
